Shaking during steeping

So oldhippydude, when you shake the juice up do you not let the bubbles that have been created drain by removing the lid?

My personal belief is that oxidation is not desirable in my juice so at no point in my process am I trying to introduce air.
I also do not see the point in opening a bottle, which will let out volatile components of the flavour which are often important parts of flavour.
If I was getting horrible chemically notes I might try breathing to reduce them.
My mixes use less flavour than many people 5% or 6% and I suspect that people using much higher percentages may benefit from breathing their juices.

People like to do stuff to their juices, it makes them feel like they are doing something, just waiting can be boring.
Basic steeping to me is just leave it and test it now and again to see if it is better.

I suspect that doing anything to a juice may change the flavour in some way but it is unlikely that the same thing will be right for all flavours or all people, or for all types of kit or people.

If you really want to know if x,y or z helps your juice then do it to one bottle and not another then test it, or even better blind test it on your friends.

Just my opinions and there is no shortage of other opinions to be had.

I think I'm going to just stick with a good hard shake at the beginning and then forget about them.
I was just trying to make sure I wasn't doing anything horribly wrong is all!

Thanks all for the advice :)

There are so many opinions on the matter, that whatever you do some of us will think you are doing it wrong.
Your plan sounds good to me though.
Good luck.

Heck the few recipes I have made thus far have all turned out pretty sweet, so I can't be doing too much wrong lol.
I'm looking forward to next Tuesday, I have a Cuttwood monster melon clone brewing at the moment...
