What's new

smoking ban 2030

Time to legislate against ALL the other obnoxious pastimes, that have no health risks, enjoyed by many too eh? I know they'll be dismissed as being totally different from vaping, so I will preempt any such comments with "not the in my experience".

Our town centre has been a mecca for stag and hen do's for a good few years now, plus the mutton dressed as lamb brigade that frequent the horse racing meets. Most of the "adult" activities used to happen early evening onwards, but now things get very tasty as soon as the pubs open. 6 foot inflatable dicks and dildos are regularly carried through the town all day, and barely dressed rowdy fat slag and greek adonis impersonators carry on, while families are out doing more sedate family things done over a weekend. Any complaints are met with derisory comments, including from the police supposedly keeping order in the town. I personally haven't complained, because it doesn't bother me at my time of life, but see the discussions in the local rags and FB, and understand the family point of view.

I've sat tootle puffing at an astounding 12w in a pub that allowed it, and still received looks of disgust from a group of rowdy toffs from one of our public schools. We had been told we could vape in the small back room, only just big enough for the 6 of us in there really (all tootle puffing), and I think the toffs wanted us to make way for their party. My tolerance level peaked after 10mins of barging and snotty comments, so it was either twat as many as I could, or bring out the "outdoor vape". In a rare moment of maturity I took the 2nd option, fogged the room out entirely, and the toffs pissed orf.

Anyway I'm waffling. It saddens me to see vaper Vs vaper, because unlike the general population, most of us are a bit more informed about known effects of vaping. I expect stupid comments from non smokers, but any vaper that tells me I'm the problem can quite simply go fuck themselves. There are far more pressing things wrong with society, than to waste energy berating fellow vapers. Leave that to big pharma, tobacco, and bent scientists, who come out with their shit to bring us into disrepute.

Legislate against stupidity and ignorance first.
^^^^This, totally this.^^^

The issue with legislating against stupidity & ignorance is that the legisislators are stupid & ignorant :D:D

A similar argument arises about the design of mods and tanks with flashing lights or the way juice is marketed appealing to kids who, by law, aren't allowed to buy it anyway, so who cares if it appeals to them or not, they can't buy it.

Do we acquiesce and make everything bland due to public perception? Are we not allowed colourful cartoon styles on our mod or juice?

Should we fight for the right for "childish" vaping, something that seems will obviously damage public perception and play into the hands of big T and the anti vaping lobby?

Surely blowing big clouds inappropriately is a similar case?

Fight for the right to blow massive clouds using mods that look like a kids transformer toy and juice packaged like candy!

This confuses the central issue and there's an assumption in the "we" that you use that suggests a homogenous Big Vaping entity that decides on these things. Vaping is a disruptive technology which is entirely consumer driven, it isn't govenerned or coordinated. The manufacturers design what they think will sell, the consumer makes his/her own choice. I'm quite happy with the freedom of choice and for others to express their interests in Transformers, Harry Potter, My Little Pony etc. as they wish. Who should judge on matters of taste?

Seems to me that the EU and UK both have regulation which is very mindful of the issue of marketing products to minors. Maybe it doesn't go far enough for you?

Whether or not blowing clouds is similar depends largely on whether you think the activity is childish or not. To me, it's etiquette ... social norms ... like giving up a seat for a woman or elderly person, like not farting in a lift, like doing unto others as you would wish them to do unto you.

Now I'm sat in a pub beer garden, with a peroxide fat bird doing face time at the top of her voice on the next table. I can't vape, so I'm abiding by the rules, but where's the rule against noisy ignorance?

Edited cos I'm not with fatty [emoji16]

Buy her a pie. It's not a long term fix but it'll shut her up for a while ...

I remember when Scotland banned smoking indoors/public places before the rest of the UK......about 6 months into the ban I went on Holiday to England (I smoked at the time).......went into a pub and fk me....I lasted about 2 mins.....place was reeking, heavy smoke lingered everywhere.....I had adjusted and left.
We vapers and smokers are in the minority everywhere we go....so in my view it is right and fitting that steaming out a public place with vapour where the majority of folks are good clean living thieves and prostitutes.....is not on, never will be accepted and rightly so.

Edit : think of the children
