smoking ban 2030

It’s banned on public transport and in hospitals because some numbnuts are unable to control themselves or see that flooding a carriage/ward with fat clowdz, bro, is tediously annoying to everybody else.

Again, we are always constrained by the slowest, dimmest members of society.

Nobody gave a shit about vaping at football until “look at me” tools plumed clouds from subohm starter kits.
I have to differ with you on this ... the size of the cloud makes no fucking difference ... folk object to vaping no matter the amount of vapour, just as they object to smoking no matter how much smoke is created, This is a section of vapers wanting to blame another section of vapers for their problems and frustrations, just for the sake of saying "I'm not the problem, others are". Do you seriously think the anti-vape lobby will stop if cloud size is reduced? Get over it for fuck's sake.

On a broadly similar subject ...
I had a great time in Istanbul recently. At the stadium the cops threatened to confiscate my vape as it was "forbidden". I persisted in arguing, saying they can have my vape if they also confiscate everyone else's fags and lighters. That worked. Inside the stadium they were hundreds smoking, the announcement at half time about smoking/vaping was greeted with huge boos and whistles.
To the pub ... a massive no smoking sign greeted everyone walking in, yet everyone in the pub, I genuinely mean 100%, was nursing their pint and smoking. Turks aren't ready to quit smoking and they're totally uneducated about vaping, not knowing which is worse. You'd think the UK would be further down the line but in reality non-smokers don't give a fuck about the difference between smoking and vaping ... they don't want either.

Am not sure that's quite true scrumpox. I have yet to meet a non-smoker who wasn't over the effin' moon when a relative switched from smoking to vaping...

Three regular vape meets I know of (because I was there on each occasion) were threatened with having the venue pull the plug because of people chucking out massive clouds and filling the places up with vape.

The British Beer and Pub Association stated that the main reason its members have not run to embrace vaping (as you'd imagine they would given the losses they incurred when smoking was banned) was...can you guess? Yes, that's correct: people vaping "inconsiderately" - Andy Tighe's word, not mine.

The subject has also been commented upon by a whole host of people working in the tobacco harm reduction/research community who (amazingly) aren't "vapers wanting to blame another section of vapers". I know because I've been attending their events for over two years and have listened to them.

I don't doubt for a second that McKee, Capewell or the Lincolnshire masseuse would resolutely hold their position on vaping regardless of cloud size...but then they are not to whom I was referring. I was referencing comments made to me or in my presence by members of the Parliamentary Group for Vaping and the Parliamentary Group on Smoking and Health; people who don't vape, support vaping as a harm reduction tool and happen to make the rules.

"Get over it for fuck's sake"? Seriously?

These are weasel words and the law makers are asses.
There's no way "considerate vaping" is going to be allowed, defined or differentiated. The problem, like many social problems, arises whenever the entitled meets the intolerant ... consideration will always be defined by the intolerant.

I make no defence of inconsiderate, anti-social behaviour ... given that a cloud of vapour is harmless to bystanders, I just think it's bollocks to claim that little cloud = good, bigger cloud = bad. It's not the size of the cloud that matters, it's where and when.

Time to legislate against ALL the other obnoxious pastimes, that have no health risks, enjoyed by many too eh? I know they'll be dismissed as being totally different from vaping, so I will preempt any such comments with "not the in my experience".

Our town centre has been a mecca for stag and hen do's for a good few years now, plus the mutton dressed as lamb brigade that frequent the horse racing meets. Most of the "adult" activities used to happen early evening onwards, but now things get very tasty as soon as the pubs open. 6 foot inflatable dicks and dildos are regularly carried through the town all day, and barely dressed rowdy fat slag and greek adonis impersonators carry on, while families are out doing more sedate family things done over a weekend. Any complaints are met with derisory comments, including from the police supposedly keeping order in the town. I personally haven't complained, because it doesn't bother me at my time of life, but see the discussions in the local rags and FB, and understand the family point of view.

I've sat tootle puffing at an astounding 12w in a pub that allowed it, and still received looks of disgust from a group of rowdy toffs from one of our public schools. We had been told we could vape in the small back room, only just big enough for the 6 of us in there really (all tootle puffing), and I think the toffs wanted us to make way for their party. My tolerance level peaked after 10mins of barging and snotty comments, so it was either twat as many as I could, or bring out the "outdoor vape". In a rare moment of maturity I took the 2nd option, fogged the room out entirely, and the toffs pissed orf.

Anyway I'm waffling. It saddens me to see vaper Vs vaper, because unlike the general population, most of us are a bit more informed about known effects of vaping. I expect stupid comments from non smokers, but any vaper that tells me I'm the problem can quite simply go fuck themselves. There are far more pressing things wrong with society, than to waste energy berating fellow vapers. Leave that to big pharma, tobacco, and bent scientists, who come out with their shit to bring us into disrepute.

Legislate against stupidity and ignorance first.

These are weasel words.

Oh do fuck off. What climbed up your arsehole? If you can’t interact in a civil fashion you can just cock off to block with the rest of them. I really thought you had more to you. Clearly I was wrong.

When I used to smoke and certain annoying people got on their high horses with me about taxpayers money being used to fund the NHS treatment of smoking related diseases, I used to use the fact that the tax on tobacco generates at least three times as much revenue for the government than the amount the NHS spends on treating smoking related diseases. I was saying this decades ago.

In fact, I used to tell them that without smoking, non-smokers would lose out too, due to that excess in tax revenue, so they should mind their own business!

It's funny how the mindset can change, depending on which side of the fence you are on.

As for vaping and cloud size, I know of places where 'considerate' vaping is allowed, but cloud chuckers aren't. There are quite a few pubs like that, "The Hope" in Carshalton being a good example (a guy from the New Nicotine Alliance who lives nearby turned me on to that particular establishment).

It is in places like that (and there are quite a few) where tootle-puffing is allowed, that chucking out mahoosive clouds does harm to the public perception of vaping.

I vape both ways, MTL and DTL. I vape a lot when walking along or standing around outside too. I've only ever had bad reactions (like the waving armed waft it away) from other members of the public if I accidentally clouded them out. Nobody wants that in their face.

Block me as you wish, the pathetic threat will always say more about you than me. There was nothing uncivil in my reply and making my points clearly should not warrant such a patronising attitude.

To me it's a simple case of divide and rule by the asses ... the public health, moral. legal and scientific argument between smoking and vaping is a clear and easy win. Or so it should be. However, the issue has been successfully shifted to the amount of vapour. This is obfuscation. Issues which should form social etiquette are being wrapped up and disguised as legal grounds.
