SS mesh wick

I have watched a couple of vids on this and see you need to blowtorch it first, this may be up for dumb question of the year but can you do this over a gas hob if you do not have a blowtorch.

I am awaiting a AGA-T+ and if I can not do this I will just go for some silica wick.

you can mate BTH for £7 on ebay its easier with a blow torch IMO

I have a blowtorch but do mine on the gas hob - it's safer indoors and easier to carbonize the mesh with VG - the hob is less fierce than the blow torch so I get more control.

I preferred my gas cooker but have gone induction so had to get a blowtorch. Silica is IMHO easier to use and less frustrating but mesh is the cleanest. It can be fiddly and sometimes nothing goes right and it drives you mad but once you get it right it's lovely.

YOu can do it over a gas hob .. I used to do this before getting my blow torch ..blow torches make it a lot easier .. and you can get one off ebay for 4.99!

Even better to pretend you need one for work and get one on expenses. It was just a shame my aga-t didn't turn up

Well how else are you gonna deal with your work pc when it misbehaves?? Also blowtorches are an amazing way of disposing of all that unwanted or unfinished paperwork.
