I've just purchased the above rdta and everything was fine for a week or two getting a nice vape using a dual kanthal 0.3 ohm build at 75-80W but I'm running into wicking issues where I'm getting dry hits. I've tried using more cotton, less cotton and longer and shorter wick tails but nothing is making any difference. I've been building my own coils for years and never experienced a situation where I can't get the build right. I leave the juice flow fully open unless I'm filling. Does anyone have any advice or experienced the same problem? I love the tank and the capacity but I've had to go back to my squonker as I just can't get a decent vape from it! Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I don't have the V3 but I believe it uses the same decks as the V2 so building should be identical. If you're using the dual coil deck with 3mm i.d coils don't thin out the wicks, but make sure the wicks reach the bottom of the wells. Don't have the wicks sticking out of the cut outs at the bottom of the deck (maybe a TINY bit, but don't push loads through). If too much wick is protruding from the bottom of the build deck you will compress it when you put the deck into the tank and screw the bottom plate/ring on - this results in it vaping great until you are about half a tank in, after that it will start to go dry as the cotton sticking out from under the deck will be compressed and unable to wick enough juice to keep up.

Try unscrewing the top fill cap and leaving it open for a few seconds, the screw it back down. If it is then good for another 6 to 10 hits then it is definitely the wicks - but make sure there isn't much wick sticking out under the build deck first before trying to thin out the cotton in the juice wells. Sometimes just cutting it away does the trick.

If you're using the mesh deck, sorry I don't know.

Thanks for the advice, I've been thinning out the wicks , maybe I'll stop that , I don't have any wick sticking out of the bottom so I guess it's just trial and error finding the right amount of cotton.

If you've been thinning the wicks and it isn't leaking then keep doing it as we may not be using the same cotton (I'm using Cotton Bacon Prime).

I just noticed you vape it at 75 - 80W, I use 28x2 Ni80 Fused Claptons at 0.30 ohms, but at 55-60 Watts with the airflow on the middle setting. I'm not really confident my wicking would be able to keep up at 80W lol.

I have exact same problem - first week was ok, now all I get is dry hits and leaking through air holes. I think next I need to try not to thin wicks at all.

I've emailed steamcrave for some advice , I'll post if I get any helpful response!

By way of update for anyone still struggling with this issue, I've found that using the Scottish roll wicking method seems to have solved the issue. I'm not great at posting links etc but there's a load of you tube videos out there. I've been using my latest build for 2 days with no dry hits so fingers crossed!!
