Stomach issues

I manage the IBS with diet and avoid eating a meal after 6 pm- having an empty stomach of an evening reduces the amount of painful IBS cramps and nausea ( which flares up in the night).
I may have a problem with this, I work a week of day shifts then a week of night shifts.

I understand that, done shifts myself. But if one has digestive issues set eating times do help a lot. When I worked nights 20 years ago I ate a meal at 5 pm and nothing til I got up the following day. Anyway, I think you'd feel a lot better if you cut out the following from your diet: wheat products, cows' milk products, caffeine and limited animal fats.

Hope you feel better soon Bruce! I know what it is like having to treat one's stomach with TLC and it can be a faff having to eliminate certain foods but it's better than feeling ill!

Nairns Scottish oat crackers are a good substitute for bread (or Aldi's own)- they are tasty and satisfying and quite cheap. I top them with peanut butter, feta cheese, olive tapenade or hummus.

I can feel the I told you you have to start eating healthy one day from my Mother coming. I have never eaten fruit since I was a kid I can't stand it and other stuff like that. I have always been a white beard, full fat, its not a curry unless its loaded with chillies type person.

LOL. It's true "you are what you eat." Well if you like fruit smoothies that's another way to get fruit. I like fruit but it is so messy to eat. I prefer vegetables to fruit. I can eat a whole plate of raw white cabbage with hummus! Chillies are actually quite good for you but the milder long green ones might be better for you. I like chilli myself. Got a veg stir fry with chilli and garlic from Asda for lunch tomorrow.

i live on chicken stir fry done in a copperstone pan with no oil, normally asdas chilli garlic stir fry, a pack of the small bacon squares and 4 chicken breasts with peanut butter, serves 2 folk, fills you up good style and doesnt give any gut rot, (sometimes the Mrs makes garlic bread which is outstanding at the time but agony later)

Sounds like you have the same stir fry mix I bought Bruce! If you are in agony after eating garlic bread sounds like you have a wheat intolerance. I feel for you as I love garlic bread myself and had to stop eating it. Why not try making it with rye or spelt bread instead and see how you go? Or one of those gluten free breads?
