Stomach problems

It might actually be that this problem is insurmountable for you, VG and PG are Polyhydric alcohols, therefore since you have reactions to alcohol then it follows that VG and PG would also affect you, if you want to go for the Trifecta then it should be noted that Menthol is an Alicyclic alcohol. Try to minimise exposure to all three using low powers and a tight draw MTL type tank such as a Nautilus X if you must vape...

Yes, I had thought that the alcohol intolerance was related as it feels very much the same. However the intolerance to alcohol did not come about until I had stopped drinking for several years and then tried to start again. Lack of exposure to alcohol seems to have made my digestive system hopeless at dealing with it. Therefore my hope is that repeated exposure to these new alcohols might cause my body to be able to cope with it again.

In that case a Low Vapour / High Flavour MTL setup will be your best bet - I've recently been enjoying the Nautilus X - getting good flavour without going too cloudy, probably a good bet for you too...

Please take this with a pinch of salt m8 but have you thought that it could be a mental issue?

I've got stomach ulcers and the likes and even just reading this I'm burping and feeling bloated.

I know that say eating a bag of smokey bacon crisps will give me indegestion because I once got indegestion from eating them so now everytime I attempt to eat them my stomach is in knots sometimes even before I've started to eat them.

Don't know if this makes any sense??

cheers

No offence taken, and I'm absolutely willing to accept that this problem could have a psychological element. When I first tried vaping a few years ago, I was fine for the first couple of days. Then several days in I had a particularly heavy night of vaping and noticed that I was a bit bloated. I gave it up and went back to cigarettes. When I approached it again earlier this year I was fully expecting to have stomach problems and of course I did.

The problem is that even though the issue could be psychological, the symptoms manifest very much physically. This could be the same with alcohol. The problem feels very psychological. After the first inhale I'm immediately focused on my stomach, worrying about it, waiting for the discomfort to start. Like you I can feel it now just talking about it!

You vape and have ulcers? Does it make them worse?

I'm exactly the same m8

I think my issues are very much to begin with psychological but as you mentioned it then becomes a physical issue.

I can feel it coming on and then take omaprozol (sp) tablets and it's gone within 10 mins. Now I'm pretty sure that they help but I'm also convinced that the very act of taking the tablets give me a placebo effect that calms my stomach down.

As to my ulcers I've not really noticed any difference when vaping or not to be honest.

If there are days when you don't smoke at all I don't really think you are a smoker, you clearly have no nicotine addiction.

If you really want something to replace the very occasional smoke I'd try a decent cig-a-like with a low or zero nicotine level, it may well be enough to keep you happy without subjecting yourself to too much vapour exposure and thus hopefully reduce your symptoms significantly.

Hi all,

I'm really hoping some of you can give me some advice about the stomach issues I'm have from vaping.

I've tried vaping unsuccessfully three times now and am going for the fourth. I really want it to work this time. So anyway, here it goes:

I get a stomach ache from vaping, almost instantly, as soon as I've taken the first hit. It starts off as a bloating in the stomach, before moving into a moderate but not severe griping in my gut (I'm not doubled over in pain, just very uncomfortable). It'll last throughout the evening, even though I only vaped for half an hour or so and then I'll normally have the shits that evening or the next morning. I've spent a long time experimenting to try and figure out what is causing this. I've tried 100% VG, 100% PG, unflavoured, 100% organic flavours, flavours that don't use an ethyl alcohol base and no nicotine. I've also tried several different vaping kits. The reaction is identical every time.

I'm not a heavy smoker, I'm barely even a smoker. On average I'd say I smoke 10 cigarettes a week, and have days where I don't smoke at all, so I don't think this is any sort cessation/withdrawal thing.

What I'm hoping is for someone to come on here and say "I had the same problem, but I stuck it out for a month and the problem went away". I've searched the internet for people having similar problems to me, but generally the threads either die off, or it turns out that the person had an allergy to PG/VG or too much nic etc. I haven't really heard about anyone who got past the stomach cramps (that weren't caused by smoking cessation) just from sticking it out.

Two things that I've also thought might be related to my problem but can't really see how they'd cause this are:

I am a coeliac, so totally allergic to gluten
Alcohol fucks up my stomach in a very similiar way and I therefore I haven't consumed alcohol in years.

Whenever I try to talk to other vapers/staff in vape shops I just get a blank look. I find it hard to believe that this problem is unique to me, I guess other people its happened to just give up and don't talk about it. I recently (for unrelated, coeliac reasons) had a camera down my throat and one up the other end, a medical spit roast if you will, and my stomach and intestines were judged to be perfectly healthy.

Sorry, that was quite a long post. Any advice would be much appreciated.

Common denominator may be the vape you’re using and whatever materials are in it. Other than that, maybe your body just can’t stop itself from salivating on an empty stomach, to the point it’s making you feel sick. Good flavours make me and it usually gives me a little discomfort on an empty stomach

Im having the same issues, only diffrence is the stomach problems dont fully flair up untill the next morning. It just started up once i switched vapes. My first one only gave me nausua when i over consumed nicotine, no stomach issues whatsoever. Now after switching the vape itself i find myself waking up with a really bad stomach ache along with the sh*ts. At first i thought it was the food i had been eating because i was eating a lot of food covered in buffulo sauce but after getting back to what i usually eat the problems still continued and imnl using the same juices as before and the only thing im doing different is the vape itself. I havent been using it for more then a week but im working thro it to see if it gets any better, if not, $130 down the crapper plus whatever i need to spend for a new one because i love vaping

I certainly don't have any answers, but I do have a couple of comments...

You mentioned the doc prescribed Lanzoprazol was it? I may have glanced over it, but what did the doc say was the cause? Did they actually check you over?

The reason I ask is that I suffer from IBS and a sliding hiatus hernia (I noticed at least one other member does as well). The latter tends to cause horrific acid reflux, inability to lay down etc, and bloating. That being said, the IBS causes considerable issues meaning I've stopped lactose and try to be dairy free, no booze, and careful with other food and drinks - even some squash drinks can screw me up.

Where does that come in with vaping? Some juices exacerbate the issues, particularly some custards, milk/creamy flavours, and some random flavours. Bloating, wind, and spending 20 minutes on the throne etc can all be the result. Some days are worse than others.

My issues are caused my significant levels of hard-core medication for my disabilities, wrecked my stomach and a bunch of other organs, but your issue does make me wonder if there is something more serious happening, and vaping just pushes it over the edge.

Personally I'd keep a food diary for a week, write down everything you eat and drink and make notes if certain times or days are worse than others - we tend to forget stuff or overlook things without making written notes, or even on a phone app.

Then I'd go and see the doc. It seems that there are other issues afoot as you'd mentioned, to me it seems that rather than vaping being the cause, it seems to just make something a bit worse.

I would ensure your coils are kanthal and not n80.

Finally I think you said you were on 6mg? At the level you were smoking, I can't see a reason for that so I'd drop to 3 at the most.

Sorry it was a bit of a book, and for any auto-correct the stupid phone may have done!
