What's new

The MTL all things pods and aio thread.

so tempted to grab another ratel now they're £30 at ECO, someone talk me out of it.

Did you manage to sort the leaking out then? How’s it for MTL? Have you got the RBA for it too?

Yeah, touch wood. Close the airflow when filling. Seems to do the trick. It has no stock coils so comes with the rba as standard.

I've not tried MTL sorry.

Decided to try another pod system for dog walks ( I secretly think I'm addicted to buying gear ) & grabbed the Freemax Maxpod.

First off, the 1.0ohm coils can be a bit iffy. The one in the box stopped firing after half a pod full, even though the 1.5ohm worked fine.

So I bought an extra box of each coil & again the first 1.0ohm coil was iffy. It would vape differently depending on which way I rotated the pod :

Put pod in device - vapes as expected

Rotate pod 180 degrees - I'd get less power from the 1.0ohm than a 1.5ohm coil.

Tried another 1.0ohm coil & this one wouldn't vape at all unless I pull it back out of the pod by a bit ( roughly 1mm )

So where the QA problem is I'm not sure ( maybe someone up high is secretly trying to tell me to stop wasting cash on pod systems? )

The 1.5ohm coils have all worked just fine. Downside is that the vape is pretty weak. Considering it's running at 8watts it isn't really surprising.

As for the device itself, it has a nice weight to it and doesn't feel 'cheap' like the Smok Nfix. Mouthpiece is very confortable. Prefer it to the one on the Nfix.

Airflow is loose but you can do the usual pod trick & cover the airflow holes to tighten it up, which does help.

And because of the fixed output, it does have a bit of that old 'rattlesnake' noise that was common in regulated devices years ago. This isn't as annoying as the humming from the Sceptre, but it's there.

Flavour isn't really any better than the Nfix mtl pods in my opinion ( this is using menthol & citrus flavoured liquids )

So hopefully, sometime soon, one of the manufacturers will come out with a device that has the features below to stop me buying pod devices!

Weight of the Maxpod / Yearn

Battery size & power control from the Nfix

Mouthpiece from either the Maxpod or the Yearn

Draw / airflow & auto draw from the Yearn.

Don't know if it will fit all your requirements exactly, but am very impressed with the Voopoo Argus Air pod. Have been using 0.8 and 1 ohm coils in it and they are really decent. Non TPD version pods are 3.8ml capacity and the battery will last me at least 3ml of juice consumption at 13 watts. It's a tiny and well made device also.

Not that i want to be responsible for u buying more gear BUT.......have a look at the Xros by Vaporesso. A few us reviewed it, it scored highly.

Im surprised about the Maxpod though, i had 1 pod that had issues but after that it was fine.

Good luck!

I considered it, especially when it was on offer for £16? I tihnk last week. I'll see if it drops back down to that price again.

I've had the Xros. All 4 pods I tried caused spitback after 4 draws or so with 50 / 50 juice.

Can't go higher on vg either as it causes a tightness in my chest after a while.

Well the Maxpod has stopped firing any coils. Don't get the led blink when I insert the pod anymore and nothing other than 3 led blinks when I try & vape.

Looks like the middle contact pin in the base has stuck down? Don't think it's meant to be like that.

Have contacted where I bought it from, so lets see what they say.
