@LordOdin AHA!!!!! We know a song about that don't we Dovpo
IF you're more capable than I, a FULL Strip down would reveal the majority of the possible answers. Many of us have been informed that the Chip is actually covered to stop liquid ingress. However, if the chip is sealed and then fails....... and it can happen...... Then things become more tricky.
I'll quote a section of an exchange I have recently had with Dovpo and that may serve as a starting point.
"An example being condensation. To keep that under control is SO easy. Every time a refill is needed, we always remove the Tank first and mop up any tell tale residue on the bottom of the tank AND MOST IMPORTANTLY…. In and around the 510 Connection. It does pay to blow through the afc when doing this so that anything lurking there gets removed. Then install the empty tank again and fill. I know that many will regard this as a Faff, but thus far, all our Abyss have never missed a beat. Once a week I remove the 2 Torx screws from the 510, remove the disc, mop up and clean, then gently lift the entire 510 and clean up what lies below with Q Tips and compressed air. Overkill perhaps, but not when one reads some of the posts on various facebook groups!
On a Monthly basis, I strip the unit down as far as I am able, All of the above mentioned, followed by the Base Plate, this reveals the Up and Down Switches and the Screen, carefully mop up any residue with Q Tips, the use Iso Alcohol on Q Tip to deep clean around screen and switches.
There have been two occasions where I have discovered Liquid/Condensation in the Battery compartment, to thoroughly sort that out, remove the 2 deep set Torx screws next to the screen, this allows one to lift the whole assembly “slightly” and allows the Positive Terminal to be deep cleaned on its undersides. "
Because of my fumbling hands, I daren't go further, but am sure that a complete disassembly is perfectly possible provided you're good with a soldering iron.
