What's new

things vaping shops have done to you to rip you off!

Sold me a mod for £50, got home and saw it was being sold for £30 everywhere online (in the UK)

I don't mind a little mark up, but I thought that was too much.

Been in say half a dozen - say if I'm REALLY bored whilst dragged out shopping

Never bought anything, nope pretty sure never bought or been ripped off in one
Did my research & saved myself you might say...
Though, I've still made a few unwise purchases online though
(but that is down to mostly my less thorough research earlier on)

Thankfully we got this place & you lot for sound advice,
beats any shop or YouTube channel etc...

Only really went to vape shops when I started out. They were fine and gave good advice. I always buy online now

theres a famous vaping shop that ripped me off
I was ripped off by UKEcigshitshow.

Then their customer service manager had a full-on meltdown on the phone and started screaming at me hysterically.

I'm still happy to call them out for it, the bunch of fucking clowns.

No one should ever buy anything ever from UKEcigstore.

Cramvapes near me is very good. The guy was into it early on and although not a vaper himself he took the time to understand what the products were and what his customers would actually need. I have several good chats with him in the early days about the then new products. Once the DL trend or should I say style took over from MTL I lost interest in vape shops as they rarely have anything in I need.

I have been in quite a few shops, no problems really other than they rarely have what I want. And the proliferation of smok devices. Generally I'm just directed to try other vape shops. Never been hard sold, except on a market stall in Chester once.

Also in Chester I had this guy rant on at me for over 5 mins about how much he spent on his vape equipment (like his self concept depended on it). How his mod cost over 300 notes and his rda cost 90 notes blah blah. I only went in for a fkin breeze coil!

Don't know what it is about Chester.

Vapehut (on Watergate St) used to be decent, though I’ve not been in for ages. They’re not great in Chester, the ones I’ve been in. I went in to one once to ask if they had a battery recycling facility, and the guy at the counter either didn’t speak English or pretended not to :hmm:

I’ve never been ripped off, but a guy trying to sell me a Smok Alien put me right off going in vape shops. I went in with an Aspire K1 tank on an Ego battery, looking for an upgrade. I didn’t know what I was looking for, but an Alien was most definitely not it. I don’t mean that as a criticism of Smok mods, I’ve never owned one, just that it couldn’t have been further from the kind of thing I was looking for. I left without buying anything :)

Not hard-sold anything, but there was once I was sold a mech at a reduced price (it was that one that had astrology symbols as a feature/function). I was definitely not clued up enough at the time for mech and battery safety. I was using efest batteries at the time (what was under the wrap was questionable), and I had no idea about battery safety at the time. So I had battery venting (no ca-boom! Thank feck). I binned everything that day. Went back to the shop a week later and got a more appropriate set-up.

Not had this problem myself. My main issue has been the more I’ve got into vaping the less useful the shops are. They seem more set up for newbies and those looking to get off the fags. They also focus on eliquid. No problems with any of that and clearly they have to position themselves where they can make the most money, but very few here seem to stock much for the more ‘experienced vaper’
