Turn off notifications

Apologies I'm not very tech minded, how do I turn off the messages to my email address telling me of replies etc?

Click on your name top right corner next to pms and alerts, and then go to preferences. First check box with a tick is to automatically watch threads that you create or post in. Underneath it is a check box for email notifications for replies.
