UK Gov To Ban Disposables?

  • restricting vape flavours
This is a real worry of course.. and needless to say would backfire massively in respect to an increase in cigarette sales...

Restricting Vape Flavours ….
Increases Cigarette Sales!

No surprises here...
“Matching new flavor policy data to retail sales data, we find a trade off of 15 additional cigarettes for every 1 less 0.7 mL ENDS pod sold due to ENDS flavor restrictions. Further, cigarette sales increase even among brands disproportionately used by underage youth. Thus, any public health benefits of reducing ENDS use via flavor restrictions may be offset by public health costs from increased cigarette sales.”
“In this study, we find that ENDS flavor policies reduce flavored ENDS sales as intended, but also increase cigarette sales across age groups. As cigarettes are much more lethal than ENDS, the high rate of substitution estimated here suggests that, on net, any population health benefits of ENDS flavor policies are likely small or even negative.”

It appears the proposals the government are investigating include the following but not a ban on disposables. Mind you a sharp left/right or u turn is entirely possible.
  • restricting vape flavours
  • regulating vape packaging and product presentation
  • regulating point of sale displays
  • restricting the sale of disposable vapes
  • introducing an age restriction for non-nicotine vapes
  • exploring further restrictions for other nicotine consumer products such as nicotine pouches
  • preventing industry giving out free samples of vapes to children

The World Health Organisation. They’ve already made their opinion on vaping very clear, despite all the evidence.

The freedom to make your own choice in various ways of life are disappearing every year.

We have a new minister responsible for vaping after the last one left to err 'spend more time with his family'. The new minister Andrea Leadsom is a supporter of banning disposables.

Didn't realise she'd been let off the naughty step. I thought she left with a bunch of other Tories who opposed brexit.

I must be mixing her up with a different tory. I thought she backed the group who wanted to keep us in the EU's single market or was that one of the other female tories?
