UK Gov To Ban Disposables?

I don't know about that, but the forum is dead enough already...
Fuck me, this forum ain't dead.. if you wanted a dead forum you should have been on the UKVapers forum for the last couple of years before it actually closed.. it was probably less active than this even 5 years ago!
(and at one time many years ago UKV was sometimes so busy you actually couldn't read the posts faster than they came in...)

Derailing is fine, it can be a laugh, poor Liz just decided to have tea with 60 of her mates cos they haven't seen her in a while:)

liz is on her way back, you wait and see.

there is a connection here anyway, because liz’s real first name is mary :)

Have you ever heard anything like it? "can I see your ID? you have to be 56 to smoke now" .... what a clown.

The parties are in pre-election mode and Labour support it. It'll lead to a fall in tax revenues they'll need to recoup elsewhere and the black market will be happy to take advantage of it.

miby she is planning a sneaky name change and will hoodwink us all by running as lost mary truss. i would vote for a poor wee lost mary :)

I think the tax loss is a little overstated, over the last 20 years the tax revenue from cigarettes has gone up despite the number of smokers falling substantially.. because they just keep putting the tax up every year and that will continue. It's gone from around 7.5 billion in 2000 to 10 billion now. The idea that they are collecting less as the number of smokers decrease is a myth.

Compared to the overall tax revenue, which is about 785 billion, it really doesn't matter if they lose a few billion from cigarettes either, they really won't be worrying about that. When the government says it can't afford something, it's lying to you.

They spent 70 billion between April 2020 and November 2021 on Furlough alone.... if you'd asked them in January 2020 they would have told you they didn't have 7 billion to spend on anything, let alone 70.

If they want/need to spend it they will... and yeah, they aren't gonna care about the tax from fags, it's irrelevant and they don't need it.

And next week we all get promised a sexy unicorn.

Torys are toast and they know it.

Nothing they have said they are going to do is going to be worth a thing because most of what they have said they are going to do is stopping stuff that wasn't going to happen anyway or starting stuff that is already underway. The rest is dog-whistle clickbait.

Labour are the political equivalent of drying paint.

Expect lots of protest votes for Lib Dems, Greens, SNP, Plaid and Sein. Labour will scrape in.

Unless the monster raving loonies really get their act together.
