Lets fucking hope not! She is a ridiculous mare

she is but have you not been following their conference in manchester? she’s on the rise. i reckon if they had another leadership contest and she was on the list she’d win.

Not a chance.

.... they are at 24% of the vote according to the latest polls and I don't think that will improve.

Mind you I don't think much would improve with Starmer either.

so, who cares.

let’s wait and see. i hope you are right. starmer is a shit and we’ll be in for a return of blairism but it can’t be worse than this miserable shower.

Have you ever heard anything like it? "can I see your ID? you have to be 56 to smoke now" .... what a clown.
This is just one of the many obstacles that would be so difficult to overcome in the event of raising the legal age each year...

I posted on the new thread about this here -
Other problems with raising legal age of buying cigarettes each year...
It creates a situation in 10 years whereby people will have to prove they are 28 rather than 27 to buy tobacco. Implementing that (and then higher ages) in a retail setting would be extremely difficult and onerous. Of course, all the usual comparisons about military service and other age of majority thresholds will be brought into play.
It is directed at the adolescent population who have an extremely low rate of smoking as it is (presently 1% of 11-15 year olds), for which smoking is increasingly a thing of the past -

Those few who still want to smoke will smoke whatever the government says about age restrictions.

You almost made me spit my coffee all over the keyboard with laughter. :) If I remember right she managed one day short of a month and managed to wreck the economy over the course of a weekend.

Starmer wouldn't need an open goal. Truss would put the ball in the wrong net by herself.

i think what happened is she rubbed up the real power the wrong way and was very quickly dispensed with. the bank of england, the mega rich etc.

i’m obvs not a fan of truss, or tories in general, and mostly agree with what nye bevan had to say about them. but i think what happened there reveals the true nature of how politics and capitalism work. it’s not great.

For some it would create a situation where they couldn't vape at the start of the year... until their birthday, then they could. :D

It's so stupid, clearly didn't think it through.... I hate the expression but it's probably just 'dog whistling'

i reckon they know it won’t work in the detail, but they think the general trend will work in terms of alienating smokers and stigmatising smoking, pushing people away from it.

Yes, but they have done it in New Zealand.. so I guess they are the trial model...
New Zealand is believed to be the first country in the world to implement the annually rising smoking age, ensuring tobacco cannot be sold to anyone born on or after 1 January 2009.

I don't know who is behind that story but it's just mischief making in my view. There's absolutely zero chance of another Tory leadership contest between now and the next election. They know that would be the final guarantee to lose the election.

And Liz Truss to succeed?.. who holds the record for the shortest unequivocal term of office, at 49 days.. not exactly a vote winner...

Truss is long gone...the real power people, bankers n the like would never allow it.....dunno why @zouzounaki is raising her from the dead, mibee he fancies her:)
And anyway wtf has she got to do with Sunak's vaping statement....fk all.. Zou has made this shit up.
