Hi all, looking for any help, would be very appreciated... I've been a smoker for 8 years now and really want this whole vaping thing to work. Sorry if this post will end up seeming long winded, I'll try and add as many details as possible.

Have been vaping for just over a week now. I was recommended the Ursa Quest by the guy in the shop, started with a 10ml Nic Salt liquid and it was great, strong flavour and plenty of vapour etc.

Onto the problems, after I filled the tank with the remainder of the Nic Salt, the flavour ceased completely, no burnt taste though. The coil itself looked as if it had a heavy gunk build up on the cotton, so I decided to try a new one. Both of these were 0.6 Ohm coils, and I am vaping on a 20W setting.

After changing the coil I also tried another liquid, the Riot Squad Punx 10ml Mango, Peach and Raspberry flavour. Relatively weak flavour, but it did the job. After a few days the coil seemed to have the same issue and I couldn't taste much, heavy gunk build up etc. So I decided to try a different coil all together inlt a few hours ago, a 0.3Ohm one, filled it up with a 70/30 shortfall that had 6mg nicotine added. The flavour feels extremely weak, and at this point I realise I have no idea what I'm doing and feel relatively helpless. The coil is fine, so far anyway.

Any advice on how I can get the most out of this vape would be a massive help, the guy in the shop seems to not want to help me very much at all and seems more interested in dealing with paying customers that come into the shop whilst he is dealing with me at the same time. Sorry if this post is too long and too much info.

Thank you.

I think the 0.6 coil is rated at 20w on the low end of the recommendation. It could be that you're not using enough power on it and the juice is caramelising because it's not getting hot enough. Sweet juices are brutal for gunking up coils but you should be getting more than a tankful out of it.

Try going at 25w and see if that helps. The 0.3 is rated higher still so you need to put a bit of power through it, like about 35/38w. The kit you've got is decent for a starter. I had one for a bit and quite liked it.

I'll try turn it up to 35w today and see how I get on, thank you! Would it be worth considering changing to 50/50 liquids too, or anything lower in VG than my current 70/30 liquids?

It might help. The coils are quite small so 50/50 or 60vg/40pg would wick better. There's also the fact that flavour is a bit better with higher pg as it carries the flavour better. I used 70/30 myself and found it ok though.

I also need to ask how you're vaping? Are you vaping like a smoke and drawing the vapour into your mouth first (MTL) or are you just drawing straight to your lungs (DTL)? The Ursa kit is better DTL as trying to get a MTL draw on a 35w coil is a bit too much, you'd not be cooling the coil enough with the air intake and that'd definitely affect the flavour.

I'll have to experiment with the juices, I'll buy some lower VG ones soon once I've got through the 100ml bottle I have now.

Yeah I found MTL is too much, been experimenting with both the past few days and find myself doing DTL more often now. Sometimes do MTL by accident, smokers habit I guess

I think you'd probably be fine with 70/30 to be honest. Depends on how often you hit the vape really. Maybe try 60/40 first as 50/50 could be a little harsh for you if you're DTL vaping.

I'd recommend Primevapes for juice that won't gunk your coils as fast. The owner is a poster on here and his juice is really good. If you can't get good flavour from it then it's probably something wrong with the pod you have.

Hi @TastyDerp and welcome to the planet.

Ive not seen or used this kit so having a quick google on it https://lostvape.com/product-item/ursa-quest-multi-kit/
coils and ratings are half way down the page.

the 0.6ohm coil is rated 20-28watt so best not go upto 35w as you mentioned as this will most prob burn it out.
0.3ohm is rated 30-40w. its best never to rely on ratings written on the coil so for me i would never hit 40w on these. im guessing 35w would be my max. if you wanted more cloud using higher watts then maybe the 0.2 or 0.15 would suit you better. for me though 3mg nicotine would suite these better.
i dont do nic salts but i believe these are best with mouth to lung coils at lower wattage. most salts are 50/50

now as you said the first tank tasted great and all you done was fill up and there was no flavour. could you of accidentally changed the setting to TC temperature control?
if you could post a screen shot of your screen it would help. apart from that i have no idea why the flavour would change dramatically just by filling the tank again.

oh and never appologise for writing too much. it makes our life a little easier to work out whats gone wrong.

The 35w is nice so far, I'm just a bit concerned how fast the coils got gunked up, but I have been chaining the vape a lot... the higher wattage is helping me now with the stronger hit. I'll experiment with the 60/40 next, still got plenty of my 100ml bottle left.
