Thanks, I had not even considered using the top cap for the 510. That bit is nice and easy at least and it really only leaves me to come up with a lockable bottom pin system

Depends how complicated you want to go. Simple split ring design would stop button from being activated.

I like KISS but I like the idea of a threaded lock like my 8W but something with a really short throw - 1/4 to 1/2 a turn would be ideal

lol, i'm not saying I could manage it but that it would be the ideal. I am scouring my house for things to mock up
