Vapers classed as non smokers or smokers?

its a grey area which is all down to education.
all my many doctors i see yearly have said its the best move i ever made and now class me as a non smoker on my medical records. but there are a lot of GP's, doctors and nurses that are oblivious of all the research and still tell people they need to stop vaping. there was even a post a few months ago about a member being in hospital and a nurse telling him about the dangers of popcorn lung.

life insurance companies have been the hardest hurdle as they still class you as a smoker but earlier this year there was one that was posted about on here that would cover vapers as non smokers so worth a look https://www.futureproofinsurance.co.uk/life-insurance-for-vapers

Inhaling vapour doesn't mean you're a non smoker.
Not smoking means you're a non smoker.
Do you smoke?

No i dont smoke but according to the mrs's doctor im a smoker even tho i vape. My doctor says because I vape im a non smoker. Hense the question, as 2 doctors have given 2 different answers

Welcome, my doctor classes me as a none smoker, said it was the best thing i did over eight years ago.

I had to have some recent dental surgery.

Asked if I smoked, replied 'No, I vape'. They put me down as a none smoker and said I would be fine to vape.

Found DTL was a tad painful though so spent 3 days MTL on low wattage, no effect at all.

If your Mrs' s doctor says you're a smoker when you don't smoke I'd be suggesting she changes doctors.

Answering the question if smoker or non smoker I've being told: vaping is smoking..... vaping is not smoking by different doctors so it still needs adjusting in seeing vaping as non smoking because there is not much knowledge in medical history about vaping that was one of the answers given it all depends who and how treats vaping atm....

Aside from the "belonging" question:

I'm about to apply for life insurance... What do I answer? It's rather important as it has a huge impact on premium

I had the same issue when I was moving house 2 yrs ago and was reviewing our life insurance. Despite the fact I hadn’t smoked for 5 years, they insisted that I was still classed as a smoker. ( surprise surprise) . They said many of UK underwriters cold be tracked back to the USA , where they take a very different view on vaping

I provided all PHE papers etc, but they were having none of it. Perhaps things may have changed over the last 2 years though?
