Wandering resistance.

Sounds like a connection problem between the wire and the posts.. If you wiggle the coil, does the resistance bounce around?

The coils don't budge and aren't overtightened.

I think a good strip down and a bubble away in the ultra sonic and trying again is probably an option

wont do any harm but to have all those drippers do the same would still make me think its not them as such

Don't think so. Have given up for the evening and gone back to Derringers and mechs. You know where you are with them ;-)
