Right folks, I stepped into the world of rebuildables and ordered myself a fogger v4.

I currently have a EVIC and VAMO V5, none of which fire below 1.1 ohms.

First - I built a single coil - 28G kanthal - comes to 2.2 ohms. Wick with cotton. Flavor is great when I prime, Vapor production is decent but the wick is burning too quickly and I get dry burns. Tried a number of juices (but most are VG heavy). I am forced to vape at less than 8W to avoid dry burn which means a weak vape.

Next to overcome dry burns - I built a dual coil - 28G kanthal which comes to 1.3 ohms. Wick with cotton. Even with vamo supplying it's max 15W the vape is very weak. I barely can taste anything, I don't get dry hits but I assume that it it because the coils are underpowered.

My wicks are not in the horizontal juice channel so the dry burns are I assume due to coil heating too much.

What can I do differently?

I have a dna35 in transit to replace my vamo.

Dry burns can be caused by too much cotton going through the coil which strangles the juice supply.

Can you post any pics of your build with cotton? That can help us to see any potential problems.

You say your wick is not in the horizontal channel-it shouldn't even be in the vertical one-just resting on the top of the channel,on the deck.
A little trick to help wicking is when you trim the cotton cut it at an angle-put your sissosors against the side of the deck to get the angle and length-ideally the wick should just poke out past the edge of the deck.Prime it and bend it down, the point should just touch the top or just a mm or two into the vertical channel, put it back together and fill it(always from the screw in the base,as you need the pressure to force the juice up the channel)and vape away.
Hope this helps out- the Fogger is a great little atty for the price...
When you've got your new mod,try this out...

Dual coiled twisted 0.25 is very tasty too :grin2:

With a fogger the wick should go into the juice channel. .. then trim off flush to the deck once the chimney is in place... that's how the juice is wicked from the tank to your coils... if it isn't wicking then you will get dry hita and burnt wick and coils... think pics are needed pf your build to see what you mean

If i'm getting this right, you're saying you run the wick down the vertical channel to the bottom ?
A sure fire way to get dry hits-the wick swells with juice and blocks the channel. If the channel is clear and the wick sits in just the top mm or two,the action of drawing on the atty will pull the juice up the channel into the wick.
But hey we all do it differently-if it works for you

pogle I have a few foggers (v1 and v2) and yes I wick the channels... not too much cotton. . Or silica which doesn't swell... so when juiced up sits nicely in the channels. .. as far as I am aware that is how it is reccomended to use the attie... not a cause for dry hits... not using the wick in those channels can lead to liquid running into the atty faster than it should causing gurgling and spitting. . Or not fast enough causing dry hits as the juice is not being pulled from the tank into the coil by your wick... get the wick amounts wrong and yes you can overstuff the juice channels and strangle your wick but if you don't overfill it works perfectly. ..

nikki from mars Ahhh I see-my mistake,i'm using V4.0 which has tiny vertical channels, don't think it would be even possible to put anything down the channel, whereas if i've got this right the earlier versions have larger channels.

Ah interesting. .. doesn't sound like an improvement if it's causing these issues... I like my older foggers

nikki from mars I can't really comment wether its an improvement or not on earlier versions as the V4.0 is the only fogger i've had. That being said i've never had a problem with dry hits or lack of flavour/vapour.
Back to the OP,it sounds like they're wicking a V4.0 like your earlier versions,a pic would definately help in seeing whats not working properly...
