What will Tier 5 look like?

get the army on the streets to police it only way IMHO

1500 soldiers have been sent to help do tests
I agree although I'm not so sure the few instances of rule breaking going on is making a significant difference.
I believe it's mainly down to the amount of mixing that's going on in general daily life.
Even under whatever restrictions each area is in it's still spreading freely which makes it look like we're not imposing them quick enough.

What gets me is the timeframe between announced a restriction and imposing it.

Like when they say ‘from Friday we’re shutting down x, y and z.’. Why Friday?
I think we’d have been over this now had we not minced around people’s feelings quite so much early on.

i’m wondering if the regional restrictions are less effective. what i mean is, if people are less likely to stick to them?

Sorry Zou I missed that.

I dunno. Take wales for instance - the North and North west of the country is Uber low and have adhered to the rules largely but are locked down with the south. Punishment and unfair? Possibly.

But then when they’ve regionalised restrictions it’s unclear where one set of restrictions end and another starts , so people inevitably break them. So in that respect blanket restrictions are easier to follow. At least until they start meddling, which they are now.

But pretty much universally people are being stupid. Have I sneaked through one or two regions to visit my parents since March? Yeah, I have. But have i socialised freely and generally rubbed everyone’s faces in it like a generous proportion of society appear to have done? No, I haven’t.

So I’m possibly being hypocritical to be honest. Either way I just want it done now, however that needs to happen. And people flouting rules which entails me being subject to lockdowns for longer angers me more now than it did yesterday but not as much as tomorrow if that makes sense.

aye, this exactly is what i was thinking. i’ve seen it with my own parents, who live in another council area (but only a few miles away) and we were all confused about what the rules are around them coming round to see the wee man. the more rules, applying to different areas, the more confusing it gets for folk.

round my way folk have very much been complying. the one exception was the university opening up. it was chaos for a few weeks and the outbreaks ended up on the news. i was cursing them, but then i wondered how and even if the rules had been communicated to them. i don’t think anybody would expect thousands of freshers to be on the scottish government website checking what they can and can’t do. add to that the fact the unis opened and told them to come, another confusing message. they all ended up isolated in tiny rooms in the student halls.

the whole thing is very frustrating.

Too right mate.
I’ve had a gutful of it now, and I just want it to end. I’m beaten down and bruised to the point that I don’t really care what restrictions they impose , just make them short term and get it done.

(And possibly give me free reign to fire inanimate objects at the pricks who are making my life less pleasurable).

The fuckwits that keep flouting the law's are really getting to me now.
I'm becoming a right snappy bastard because of it. 4 households near me break the rules constantly, almost daily, having family come and go as they please. I've been caught by the other half staring out the window and swearing at them. I've even got a mate that does it. He goes to his daughters house saying he's in their "bubble " and then goes to his brother's . One bubble not two you numbnuts [emoji35] I've told him in no uncertain terms I'm not impressed.

Yes mate, I’m getting a short fuse with it now too.

I think the ‘everyone else is stupid’ attitude is lame, and tbh, pretty arrogant. I don’t know anyone who’s wilfully just flouting the rules because they can. A colleague of mine has never met her 8 month old nephew, due to them living across the country. My best friend’s 89 year old mum is getting more and more depressed due to isolation, and my friend’s been too worried to visit her for more than a day trip (in summer) where they sat in the garden. Everyone I know is similar to me in that they’re finding it tough, but are sticking to the rules as best they can.
