This all rings a painful truth to me too. Every now and then I'll buy something new on promotion from so called premium vendors in a pointless fight against vapers tongue. I would say 7/10 goes down the drain. During the Xmas holidays I made the rookie mistake of taking two untried juices with me abroad. Ended up paying €5 per 10ml of "slightly less ghastly" juice in a b+m to get me through the hols. Two 30ml bottles of different brands. One Apple Bong By Too Wild . One Coconut, Raspberry & Pineapple By Tropix. Both with the same horrible aftertaste of bad milk - proper rank? I wonder if they didn't come from the same kitchen, using poor quality vg/pg? Even considered if it was bad nic, but in one I used the provided shot and in the other darkstar bought separately...

It's a sad state it really is compared to where we where a few years back. I'd go into my local b and m' s on a weekly basis and dtl vaped a lot more than I do now. If it wasn't for a handful of liquids I found back then I'd be pure mtl now.
I used to try a new flavour every week and always found something interesting as the manufacturers where focused on finding excellent flavour combinations.
As you say now it seems to be largely focused at large amounts of high vg for as little as possible. Not a good route.
I barely visit my local b and m now as its just thirty minutes of tastebud disappointment which leads to inevitable embarrassment as I know after the owner/assistant has spent half an hour catering to my tasting choices I will end up.walking out without buying anything.
Even more frustrating is the fact I know there's a dozen liquids they used to stock that I'd kill for but can't buy due to the company having to pull out of the UK due to tpd costs.
What a mess. I do feel sorry for new vapers.

As someone who's relatively new to vaping (compared to a lot of POTV members), I think I've been extremely lucky.

I took full advantage of the 2017 Black Friday Sales, knowing that half of what I purchased either wouldn't be to my taste or just plain old rubbish. Surprisingly I came out of that little experiment with around 12-15 juices that I'd happily return to.

Now I have no quality reference points for before TPD etc and reading some of the comments above, I'm kind of glad I don't, as disappointment seems to be rife. I'm also happy to admit that I'm lazy and 'want my fix now' kind of vaper. DIY-ing doesn't appeal to me because it requires too much from me (pathetic I know) and I'm simply not prepared to wait.

I'm guessing that it's vapers like me who're ruining things for the rest of you. Sorry.

I know this is a separate issue but I’m amazed I see to be in the minority who think the prices are ridiculous, no choice but to make my own otherwise it ends up costing me not far short of smoking

I vape about 30ml a week, that's a tenner or so ... most people spend that a day on a packet of fags and buying really nice pre-made liquid is something I enjoy doing, it's one of the things that keeps me away from smoking..... but you're right that is a separate issue. ... so is vaping 50ml of liquid a day, that's like driving a Ferrari and complaining about the price of petrol.

There is a lot of junk around though, liquids which I suspect are probably little more than a half a bottle of Flavor Art dumped in a bottle of VG..... to me that's where the prices are ridiculous. Not in the well made TPD stuff.

See to be honest, a lot of my diy liquid just consists of a mix of one or two FA flavours, and they’re much better than most premade liquids i’ve bought.

which would imply I'm a Ferrari, ill take that. in theory 20 ml a day is about my average, if I bought two of the 10ml bottles at a fiver a pop it starts to add up

Well made TPD liquids still exist thankfully! Had the pleasure of trying out the Twelve Monkey range a few weeks back and wasn't a bad liquid among them, those are both TPD 10ml compliant and shortfill though so have been through testing.

It's these new brands that pop up though, charge same as a established manufacturer then just supply utter crap. Vanish, then release a "Brand new" juice line a week later that... You guessed it... Is utter crap (& some retailers still stock them!)

Even distributers are pushing the crap, recently visited one and despite telling him exactly what we would and wouldn't stock, was determined to sell us "Cola 120ml, Red Cow 120ml, Marz 120ml..." I know that's where the profit is but if we had stocked that, customers would have gone ballistic and never seen them again, hence we would never use that distributor again. The logic is flawed is to me.

Not necessarily. You could just as easily be some kind of souped up Lada turbo.

Or a trabant.
