What's new

What's going on with the ELiquid Market?

at the end of the day you get what you pay for, in the past ive bought budget juice & the majority of it was shite & maybe afew okish, these days i would rather pay that bit more on liquid, rather than

it ending up down the sink to me 14.99 for 60ml a bargain if you dont shop else where, all im intereted in is flavour & thats exactly what im getting.

What I'd like to know is what price people seriously think it should be?

....not a bloke on facebook, I'm talking about a proper 10ml bottle of compliant e-liquid on the shelf in a local vape shop.

It should be free ... on the NHS, of course! :P

I think it's about right where it currently is for good quality liquid (£4/£5 for 10ml £17/£20 60ml B&M prices).

Of course I'd love it to pay pennies for liquids I like, but I'm also a realist who knows that I may be able to buy those liquids for a week before the juice maker goes bust. I'd rather pay more and have the reliability in being able to get that liquid again and again.

If people want to pay pennies for liquid, they have that option. I saw some 10ml other day for 45p a bottle! However if people want to and are willing to pay more for a better product, they have that option aswell. Win win.

Only thing that annoys me is when a 45p style juice gets priced at £4 a bottle by a greedy company.

As an example.....s*****e b***ys m*****s m**k.....the ready made stuff is nice, but not as nice as it used to be before they had to change the recipe a few years back....saying that though, the shortfill was fucking banging! Like proper old school MM....it tasted like a completely different juice compared to the compliant stuff....I would wager that they’ve gone back to the older recipe for the shortfill......this is of course just my opinion

Ooh, I had a nostalgic hankering for some of that the other day, not vaped any since pre-TPD, I'm taking this as the universe sending me a sign!!

Nothings changed for me, in the past 2 years and 4 months 95% of the juice I've tried i though was shit anyways :D

The other sad thing that seems to have happened, from what I have seen, is that some of the makers of decent eliquids, who seemed to be there for the love of it as were genuinely passionate, have struggled post TPD, even if they decided to not go through the costs of testing.

I don't think the TPD is to blame for this situation as much as we would think, in the sense that I think the rise in popularity of vaping and the number of high street shops means inevitably, lots of people want to get on board and make a quick buck. I think we would have seen the rise of the same regardless of the TPD.

I think we might be looking back at pre-TPD with slightly rose tinted glasses to a degree. We all tried our fair share of (at best) Meh juices back then too. But I think @Crewella makes a valid point that the juice we loved and vaped on a day to day basis tended to be more niche small-scale suppliers, who decided the TPD was prohibitive (Chuff Stuff? Mole Juice? A moment's silence for our fallen comrades!)

I think it's not so much the rise of crap juice companies (as I see that was inevitable) that the TPD created, but more the loss of great but small juice companies. The weeds are choking the roses, so to speak.

Just my thoughts. Carry on!

I think 2/- 6d sounds about fair.

I hate 99.999% of juice I try. I made my own for a while until I found a brand I liked. I now vape 4 flavours from that brand exclusively and don't even bother trying anything else. But I would never even buy a £1 bottle of juice. Like most things, you get what you pay for. I have no problem paying a premium price for my juice because it is a premium juice and a premium vendor. I know what I'm getting. It's top quality and I'm prepared to pay for that just like I'm prepared to pay for other top quality items. I like to buy nice wine not cheap wine, I like nice food not the budget range. Bottom line is there's juice out there to satisfy every vaper with regard to budget and taste. Don't like it, don't buy it. But it's pretty crazy, imho, to expect all manufacturers to sell their products at the same cheap prices just because cheaper, poorer quality juices are available on the market. Should I expect my wine merchant to sell me a bottle of premium, expensive wine just because they also stock a budget range and "it's all made the same way"? Of course not. It's all about choice. I buy premium juice and will never buy cheap budget juice. Others are the total opposite. We're all free to buy and vape whatever we like. We have that option because the availablity is there to satisfy every niche of the market.

yeah, I was really addressing that to people who clearly think it's over-priced. I don't really see that it could be much cheaper..

£5 bottle, £1 of that is VAT, that leaves £4

How do much profit to they think a shop should make? (and still make enough to even make it worth selling)
How much do they think the manufacturer should make? (and make enough to even make it worth manufacturing)
Not to mention distributors and whatever....

In my head charging less just doesn't add up...
