As above, what made you decide to stop the cigarettes, was it for health reasons, has someone been asking you to stop, kids maybe? or was it the fact that it costs a fortune

For me it was two things, the cost, about a tenner a day! but mainly for my health.
I have smoked for 40+ years and for the last few years I managed to get through about 30 jps a day, sometimes more :banghead:

In January last year I was diagnosed with Hodgkins Lymphoma, all through the months of chemotherapy treatment and the horrible side effects I kept on smoking, I couldn't wait to get of the ward to get outside so I could have a cigarette, it made me feel so guilty but old Nic had the better of me.

I'm in remission now and my last scan was clear so I think it's time now to call it a day with the cigarettes.
It's been 4 weeks for me now and to be honest it's easier than I thought it would be. For the first couple of weeks I was still smoking about 5 a day and now it's down to just 2 a day, I reckon another 2 weeks and I will be smoke free at last.

Anyway! thats why I'm quitting, how about you? :30:

For me ,it was a decision to cut down not quit the smokes. I was finding that after 35 years of smoking I was starting to take forever to recover from exercise. And that duty free was getting harder to get.
It was after having a go on a mates ego/ce5 at work , that I started vaping with the aim of cutting down. Quitting altogether came about 5 weeks into my journey. I was on holiday with the family and running low on baccy. When it did run out, (I was on 3-4 smokes a day at this point), I had a choice, pay shop prices or go without. So I decided to try and go without. That was 01/08/13 and I have not smoked since.

Good to hear you on the mend mate first and for most. I gave up as i want to see my daughter get old, get my self back to full fitness, be able to start running again, save money, not smell like an ash tray, improve my health and hopefully live a little longer. Massive thanks goes to that little ego battery which helped me get there! As much as i dont share the love with my ego since i dumped it for a vamo and now an svd i still keep it to remind me.

I'd long promised myself that I would give up by the age of 30 so I didn't want to break that. I actually gave up using nasal sprays but they cost a fortune and were pretty minging. Then I found ecigs and I realised I could have my cake and eat it too :) Over four years and I've never been tempted to have a cigarette, though I do occasionally sniff a cigar :D

I was a knowledgeable member of a UK cable TV hacking forum, there was a thread in the lounge about electronic cigarettes, thought nothing of it, then one day in tesco a guy at the pharmacy counter offered me a shit-o-lite, the rest is history, I didn't even plan on giving up cigs but over night was a convert

4 weeks before the baby was due either nrt's again or cold turkey or cig a like... rest is history

They've "gone black" in order to push people into action over the EU debacle. If you visit the site via the website you'll see the full explanation. I don't know how long it will last I'm afraid.

I had smoked for thirty years. Did once give up for 2 years using a nicorette inhalator but ended up back on the smokes. Second time seriously trying to give up was much harder. Found nothing would work for long. A collegues friend started up an ecig business and gave him a CE4 starter kit. I tried it one day and immediately realised it would work. Bobs your uncle, now 10 weeks in and Ican honestly say I will never go back. Oh and my Dad, an ex smoker, died of cancer so I gave up on his birthday.
