Wicking the Kayfun Prime Eightbitraptor Style

Great tutorial @eightbitraptor! Thanks. A little more cotton than I usually use (Busardo style) so will try that tonight. I usually get good wicking with minimal weeping/gurgling after each refill that goes away after a few toots. My question for other prime users is: because of that weeping I end up doing a proper clean before each rewick including removing the 510 to clean the airflow channels. This is a bit of a pain so I probably leave the wicks in more than I should (I'm rewicking once a week and this is my primary tank). Do you do the same or is my ocd ramping up again? :D

@ZendeR , I used to do the same with my k5. It would always have a bit of liquid in it’s insides when opened up for maintenance. I suspect (hope?) i might not have to with the prime as it’s not gurgle or leaked anything at all and I’ve had a few tanks through it. Somehow it seems easier to wick for me because the deck is a bit smaller. But I shall see.

I'm not finding any e-liquid in the airflow channels since I replaced the o-rings on my sxk clone. I kept the wick a little shorter than the video tho, so it just drops into place and touches the bottom.

It doesn't gurgle when I refill the tank either, but I do the flip thing every time. :)

I think (with the 5 at least) this can be caused both by slightly off wicking and by the cotton touching the part of the deck where the air hole is (which I suppose is also slightly off wicking).

Great tips there gents. I'll start flipping and will pay attention to my wicking. Will try eightbits style tonight. Even with that drawback I can't put this tank down at the moment. Between this and the heron I hardly subohm atm. :)

I rebuild every few days and dismantle for a clean every couple of weeks I guess. I almost never take apart the base section bit when I do it’s always been bone dry (unless I fucked up a build)

I should clarify. I do the flip thing when I first fill after a build more out of habit than anything. I don’t generally bother when I’m out and about unless I overfill by accident. Mines been fine like this for ages.

I just rewicked as instructed without disassembling (coil was disgusting!) and will report back. Thanks mate! :2thumbsup:
