Hi folks
I got my first rebuildable today - a VH genesis. :noob:

It seems pretty good quality but I'm having trouble with the coil.
From word go the resistance was coming up anywhere between 1ohm and 2.1 ohms.

So far:
I've tried putting a new coil on it. (.2mm kanthal 6 wraps)
I've pulled out the wick and burnt loads of juice on it.
I'm thinking it's to do with the wick as I've got rid of any hotspots and it's still going mad on me :whiteflag:

Any ideas what I can try next?

I know this comes down to a learning curve and practise......... but pointers would be gratefully received.

Thanks folks

What are you measuring it with?

Make sure the coils are...snug...but not tight and not loose enough that they wiggle freely. Wiggling coils can throw random OHMs out.

I've got a zmax (cos I'm too lazy to adjust voltage) with it's built on resistance-measurerer thingy.

I've just set a new PB it went from 1ohm to 2.3 without adjusting anything. weird.

is there a clue in the fact that I've got loads of throat hit with very little vapour? (the air-hole is lined up with the wick)

is it the V1 Zmax?

oh and smok rather than sigelei (what a way to confuse us eh?)

Make sure the coil is primed, I get loads of TH and no vapour when my coils are flooded

:thankssign: for this

seems it's flooding with wiggly wraps
and I think the wick might be a tad too wide as well.
there's work to do, me thinks...

not only have I got a new atty today- I've got an extra hobby

thanks again, mahoosively appreciated

major improvement

I was lazy and left the coil in place, slid the wick out and burnt the beegeezuz out of it... rolled it up and slid it back into the coil. Next, I unwound it a bit to get it snug against the coil

2.2 ohms......... constant

probably not the best way but when my mesh arrives I'll start the whole wotsit from scratch.

For now though :vapinape: it's working. and working nicely.

thanks for the tips KMS - they've played a big part in getting this going.
You're a star :giverose:
