What's new

20/21700 mech mod advice.

I had the original tauren with the ball switch and owned it for 8 months until I had to sadly get rid of it and it never let me down the quality of there gear is as good as some of the £100+ tubes I've owned so id say if you like the look of it get it mate you won't be disappointed

Thanks for your advice mate, and to hear the quality is as good as £100+ tubes is great to hear. I would get the original Tauren, the locking switch of the max seals the deal for me though.
Is there really much difference in your honest opinion between a good quality clone, and an authentic? I ask as I love my clone AV able and couldn't imagine what would be much different?

I'm still watching reviews and looking at other mods, but the Tauren max seems to be the winner at the moment :)

The only mod I've ever had the chance to compare a good clone with side by side was a AV able and they vaped the same but you could pick them apart by the quality of the brass the original one was made from and it's finish it was just that little bit special compared to the clone but for the price difference I'd sooner own the clone

Thanks for your honest answer mate.

The clone I have is black coated copper, and the black is coming off on the sides of the switch where you turn it to lock a little showing the copper underneath.

I do understand people wanting to own, or buying an authentic expensive mech mod. Like you mention its just a bit more special than the clone. I haven't done a side by side comparison, but to hear it vapes the same is the main thing- after all it is just a tube to hold a battery at the end of the day.

I like the style of the Mechlyfe x ambition vapes arcless, I will have to check a review on that one, have you heard good things about the brand and mods? I've been away for so long!

It wouldn't be my first choice if I'm honest but I've also not had it in the hand. Anecdotal reports say the fire button is a bit sloppy but @speedfreek67 could probably shed some light on it as I'm sure he has a DJV Mecha, which is almost identical.

But... the THC Tauren max seems it could be my cup of tea. And its £57.99, which is much more in the realms of what I am happy to pay, I don't think I could be happy buying something like a AV mech for £300! (Then again I would only get clones at one point under £30, so there is time for me yet lol).

There's quite a few people on here who have a Tauren and seem very happy with it and for the price range you're looking in, it may well be the one.

The sole purpose of the barrage of links was to show you a few in different ranges to see what you liked, nothing more :)

I'm a purge fanboy and I own a couple of authentics as well as quite a few clones and there is a difference in quality, but not miles apart, I just adjust my builds to compensate.

Hope you pick something that appeals to you and look forward to seeing it in the Mech pics thread :D Always nice to see/hear positive things about other mechs I hadn't considered.

They may look almost identical, but the DJV doesn't have a constant contact button. The DJV has a very nice button with a canted coil to keep a good contact with the firing pin, and the button feels nice to me (a little squishy perhaps, but I'm using the magnets rather than the springs).

I can't comment on the Arcless, seeing as the button is very different to the DJV. But the DJV is 18650 only.

These any good for you @conanthewarrior ?

Certainly less prone to bullet holes than the copper that's for sure. The concrete ding in @stevoknevo one made me sad :S

Not as much as me John - I'd rarely taken it out of the house prior to going to GSOV and some clumsy bastard knocked it off the bloody table! Looks far worse in the pics than in the flesh, buyer could always fit a tiny wee precious stone and bling it up [emoji23] Had planned to get a constant contact switch for it but £65 for a switch that fulfills the same purpose? Eh, naw...
(Saw one for about £45 in a sale a couple of months ago and couldn't even justify that. Kennedy have quite a few different colours of anodised top caps for the RDA for $39 + $5 delivery, and whatever import+handling stiffs you for, I so badly wanted a green one but again couldn't justify it for aesthetics)
