50/50 liquid in a subohm tank advice

Good morning people, I hope this is the right place to post this as I'm still trying to navigate the site!

I purchased a 50ml shortfill bottle of eliquid without realising it was a 50/50 ratio mtl liquid. I also only had a 70/30 10ml nic shot which I added. I've tried it in my nord 4 as an mtl and also on the 0.16 coils for DTL on the same device, but not very impressed with the flavour production.

Can I put it in my geekvape l200 z tank and run it with a 0.4 ohm coil at about 45-50 watts and sub ohm it guys?

it may be a bit harsh due to the amount of PG and you`ll need plenty air to keep the coil cool but if you keep your drags shortish I dont see any physical reason why you shouldn`t .

BTW I dont have your kit so I`m supposing that it uses a stock coil and has AFC.

Maybe it's the juice if you didn't get much flavour vaping it mtl in the Nord 4 but I wouldn't think 50/50 juice will fair well at dtl wattages.

which juice was it you bought?
some out there may need a good while to steep. if it was a premium juice then it should be pre steeped. also adding a 70vg nic shot would have thickened it a bit but not a lot.
in most sub ohm tanks and the juice being quite thin i would say it would most probably leak but as you mention the z tank which has top airflow then there is no risk of that but it may flood the coil now and again after being left to sit overnight.
i guess only way is to give it a go. as said it might be a little harsh on the throat at higher wattage due to more pg.

With a stock coil and eliquid that thin flavour may be the least of your problems.
any coil below about 0.6 is at much higher risk of leaking with 50/50 eliquid.

Generally I stick with 70/30 for DL vaping, but if you don't find 50/50 too harsh to vape at higher wattages (and it doesn't leak) there is no reason you shouldn't. Higher PG gives a 'throat hit' so generally 50/50 juices are vaped at low MTL settings as you may find it a bit harsh on the throat at higher settings because you are vaporising much larger amounts of liquid with each hit. My advise is suck it and see - if you get a sore throat from the higher PG ratio then obviously it's a NO. 50/50 is much thinner than 70/30 juice and may oversaturate the coil and end up flooding it out, if this happens then again it's a NO.

I think the reason you aren't particularly impressed with the flavour will be down to one of two reasons -

1. Regular 10ml 50/50 juices that come ready to vape with nic already added are formulated to be vaped in tiny amounts at lower power settings, because of this they are more intensely flavoured. Larger shortfill bottles that you add nic to are designed to be blasted through in a DL tank at higher power levels and don't have the higher ratio of flavouring that the smaller pre-nic'd MTL juices so some DL juices can be underwhelming at lower power..

2. You have bought a mediocre shortfill and the manufacturer has scrimped on the flavourings (flavours are the most expensive ingredient). There are a LOT of juice manufacturers out there and not all of them are good. Sadly finding juices that hit the spot can be the most frustrating part of vaping and it can take a while until you find out exactly what works for you. Unfortunately it is often a case of you only get what you pay for, when I've gambled on buying juice that was cheap generally it hasn't ended well and the bottles I actually managed to vape I can't say I particularly enjoyed.

If you mention your flavour profile preferences (fruits/sodas/deserts etc), if you like/detest ice or menthol and if you're looking for MTL or DTL juices you will get plenty of suggestions on here that will cut down the Russian Roulette factor of buying mystery brands.

It's nice to do a bit of eliquid Russian roulette sometimes though.

I am very set in my ways as far as liquids are concerned, however once every month or so I'll see what new flavours are doing well and take a punt on them.
Mostly ive hated them but I've found a couple of gems in the mix.

I generally buy 50% favourites and 50% new to me juices to expand my 'favourites list', generally a third end up on my faves list, another third vapeable but meh, the last third make my drains smell good but overall it is a worthwhile gamble as I like vaping multiple flavours. But I've been buying juices long enough to know in advance which flavours are going to churn my stomach (watermelon, peach, passion fruit, cherry and chocolate in particular - oddly I like eating them but the flavours make me gag when vaping) and there are a few flavours that I'm indifferent about eating that work for me in a vape.

In my first year of vaping pretty much every bottle I bought was a gamble - and at least half the juice I bought was fcn awful because I didn't have a clue. It can take a while to figure out what you actually like - experimenting is fun, but frequently it isn't lol.

Thank you all for your replies. It's a juice from manobush and they apparently specialise in mtl juices. It was just as bad in the z tank, so switched it to my vaporesso and it tasted lovely.

Forgot to say I'm a dessert guy and this particular one is tobacco and dark chocolate.

Manabush are all pre steeped then so its not that.

its weard how tastes change so much between tanks. my staple diet is custard and i have some that are average in certain tanks but excellent in other tanks.
i must admit the geekvape zeus and vaporesso itank do bring out extra layers of flavour that the others dont.

This is worth bookmarking for future reference POTV Vendors & Recommended E Liquid Suppliers

Simons list on post 7 is for MTL
If you do decide to go full sub ohm with higher wattage then these are all worth a look on post 1&2
prime vapes, cotswold vapour, we are supergood.
