I know i have been vaping 6 maybe 7 weeks but am still learning so these questions are probably in the category " Why does he not know that". Here goes, What is the least messy and easiest way to remove the tip/bung things on 60mil and 10mil bottles, I know you can buy a tool but would like to hear other ways of doing it. Also when wicking a RDA how do you judge the right amount of Cotton, i know there are Videos on it but everything is close up so i can't judge the amount i need, i did a build a bit earlier and used way to much Cotton so that was a waste. I generally use Cotton Bacon. Thanks In Advance.

Can't help with the cotton fella but to remove the tips I just use a pair of pliers! As long as you don't squeeze them to hard then you're golden, it's not failed me before.

The tool is the best & safest way otherwise a try using a knife blade to prise it gently all the way round. As for cotton it's practise really. Get some Firebolt cotton laces & use them as a guide. Use a couple to get the feel of how much cotton to use by the tightness going through the coil. The standard laces are pretty much bang on for 3mm dia coils. Another way is to get some pad cotton like Muji or Labo. Cut a strip about half as big as the diameter of the coil, remove one or both outer layers & tease the cotton to loosen the fibres. You can gently roll it & pinch one end to feed it through. Look for YT vids on Scottish roll wicking methods.
It's one of those things that you can't teach.

I used a small screwdriver for years to open bottles. Then bought one of those tools and it's so much easier. Wicking comes with practice. I use squonk mods so just enough to touch the deck.

I tried Pliers on one bottle and all it did was pull the tip out of the top, so that was no good and that's the last time i tried, plus squeezing nicotine out of a 10 mil bottle in to a 60 mil bottle with the tip out takes ages, in the end i vaped the juice without the nicotine.

Some of the shortfill bottles are using flip tops with a hinge now (Manabush). Hope this catches on.
