A little help with RTA aspire 9th

Hi, i have a question regarding the aspire 9th tank, i personally used the 1.5ohm provided coil and ran it at 20watts as i like flavour along with my vaping however! that did burn the coil out with in a week.

So i moved onto the lower ohm and it just burnt my throat and didn't feel nice so onto the RTA,

I've been building them for years but on a kangertech RBA and it has finally given up on me, well the tank did anyway so i got the aspire 9th.

And onto the problem....I've rebuilt this thing about 10 times now, i tried my old coils that ran at 0.6ohms and found it was really harsh and didn't give any taste to the vape, so bought some more pre built coils rated at 1.5ohms, they came but are recognised as 2.2 ohms XD no bother i like to run mine hot anyways i guess?

So some tips is what i need, i like to have a lot of flavour and not a harsh throat hit, i find with my 50/50 i always without fail even on a premade coil get a harsh throat hit i don't like so run it on 70/30 which is a good balance for me. But what i really want to try and do is get this rebuild working so when i do rebuild it i get a lot of flavour, although it works it just really lacks flavour, I've tried using barely any cotton and it leaks, i slowly increased the amount of cotton and it just made zero difference to the flavour, what am i doing wrong?

Thanks!

I don't have that tank but I'm sure someone who does will be along soon. In regard to the stock coil portion, have you tried the popular Nautilus .7 mesh coils? Much better suited to the power you're talking about than a 1.5 coil.

Welcome to the forum.

Thanks, but no ive not i was stuck in my ways with my old vape kit (like 5 years almost now) so going to something new was a bit different, anyway! I just looked them up, they as far as im aware dont fit my tank, the coils look different plus im very much into building my own coils :D

Ah, OK, my apologies. Just googled it and you're right. Looks like it takes a new pnp style coil. Just figured being Aspire it would take nautilus coils but not so.

A quick forum search shows @rew and @Martin Dadley have the tank. Maybe they can be more help than I appear to be. :)

I didn't really get on very well with the tank/RTA. It takes the Aspire AVP coils. These were fine but from what I remember it was quite a loose draw for MTL. With the RBA deck it came with a couple of inserts I think. I tried the smallest insert and found the draw too tight. The other insert was too loose for me. Anyway, I gave up on it pretty quick. I did contact Aspire and suggest they make more inserts available.

Thanks for all the input, i was use to a Kangertech kbox mini 75watt with a RBA in it, which for the best part was amazing, i find the two pretty much the same concept and the draw is fine for me as i like to MTL and DTL so randomly mix it up, i will agree though the two options for the insert is poor, id rather one in between but it is what it is and im intent on keeping it as i do like the tank and its pretty easy to build with but its a matter of getting that coil right, id rather use a lower ohm coil if it produces better flavour but being use to my old setup and never changing or watching vids on setting it up (lots of trial and error) its a hard one to deal with lol! i cannot continue using it though as the tank needs replacing, the paint is peeling inside so...not really safe anymore and you cannot get a replacement tank plus i spent like almost £30 on the new tank so i want to make the most of it haha!

It might work well with a simple clapton coil in it. Maybe I will try it myself and see what happens. Will let you know if I do.
