Advice on first SXK

Looks ideal for someone like me, dont need a dna board as dont do tc. Plus its cheaper and sealed up so no risk of the board going south after a few months.

What makes you think it’s sealed? As I understand it none of them are sealed, you need to do it yourself. It’s very easy though.

The bonus of buying a DNA BB, is that the board is coated, so it's less likely to die from juice drowning. It's not sealed and neither is the SXK 70w BB.
There are tutorials on here to help you seal your pride and joy, so don't be put off. It's dead easy and takes half an hour to do.
Personally I would go for the best I could afford, but from what I read, there's nothing wrong with the 70w version.
I'm waiting for a DNA one, (£73.00), coming from another seller in China, but I'll wait until it arrives before I go posting any links. The last time I did that, I spent 2 hours on here apologising for recommending a right arsehole.

Not sure that there is any conclusive proof as yet about quite how the boards are actually sealed. IF they have gone down the same route as some of the Mid to High Range Guitar Effect Pedal manufacturers then that's great, but I have my doubts.
the SKK Boxes are one and the same, only the chip differs between their own and the DNA,

I nearly posted a breakdown of the costs incurred having a Drowned BB refurbished, but obviously the cost vary from place to place.
So........
Postage of Drowned BB to person doing repair........ assuming 1st Class RM Signed for....... £4.55
Cost of replacement Board......... Approx........... £55 depending on where from.
Cost of Person's time doing the job ???
Cost of Return Postage to you, again, assuming 1st Class RM Signed For £4.55.

So £60 + without any labour.

Based PURELY on UK Supplier's Prices.......... Obviously NOT talking FT etc here............ SXK 70Watt £74.99 (Provapes) Cost of DNA SXK £127.99
£50 to save you the inconvenience and hassle............ No Brainer to me?

At the end of the day, it's your money and I'm not suggesting for a moment that you SHOULD follow these figures as gospel :)
But based on our experiences........... 5 SXK70's repaired.......... I'd not buy another £70 Watter :)

When I ordered my dna from FT the difference in price was about £20. I’d imagine it’s still about the same.

I'm only quoting UK prices because I'm lazy and also because I try and sppot UK Vendors wherever possible :)

Im confusing things here, i misread Robs post. I thought je meant they are releasing a new sxk 70w sealed up with better buttons etc. But there releasing a dna40 version as per robs post. Dumb question guys, is the dna40 limited to max 40w?
And the one i linked above, thats not the dna40 variant is it?

Sorry for all the dumb questions, im a bb noob completely

It’s $105 DNA and $65 70w on FT $40
$35 difference in the sale
.. hmm if I cancelled my sale BB and get a DNA it would be $50 difference goddamnit maths! Almost double the mod...
Think I will try this cheaper fella, have fun, try sealing it and if it goes maybe DNA it up or buy a new DNA in bronze, yummy.
See, I already have next BB purchase in mind and I don’t know if I will like it.
Sorry, so on experience the DNA board lasts well due to integrity and waterproofing of board.
I can’t believe the condensation seal fix thing is done by SXK to the DNA not the 70w?
No, I was right to order the cheap bugger, it’s all I can do not to order the resin panels now... fuck, wait Skinku you twat

It's not done on either of them, that's a fix that the Apes have tried out and shared on the forum.
It is alleged, that the DNA circuit boards have a coating, that the SXK boards don't. The above sealing is to prevent juice and condensation, getting to the board through the contact pin hole.
It's to do with the tolerances on the clone Boro's and Bridges, they leak if you're not careful in putting them together. The original Billet Boxes don't suffer the same issues to the same degree because of the tolerances used in the manufacture.
That's why they cost £300.00.

To add some clarity........
When we are talking generally about Sealing, we had been referring to sealing around the Positive Pin is the receptacle into which the Boro goes.

When @MavicP mentioned the Board being sealed that was in reference to some of the newer models appearing to have a seal of some sort covering the Chip and switch surfaces to prevent the Ingres of either condensation or liquid.

I have experimented for one week now with a new approach to filling my Boros. Instead of my usual method, i.e. filling whilst the Boro is still in the BB, I have now done a week of removing the Boro to refill. The reason was that whenever one slides down the Plexiglass, a bit of liquid transfers onto the outward facing edge of the Plug, so this was just an experiment to further reduce any chances of a potential failure.

Can't say it has done much BUT the piece of Kitchen Roll behind the Boro is still Bone Dry!! It's a faff and no mistake, but I thought I'd try LOL
