Are we Wrong to Lockdown?

+1

surely it is the job of society to protect those vulnerable within its Boundaries from harm

people see their freedoms as being limited from a selfish standpoint and don’t see that it’s about protecting those with known AND UNKNOWN underlying conditions.
In an ideal world maybe mate but it falls to the government or relevant council actually not society as a whole (ie. The general pop. )

They day we all stop expecting things like this from the government, the better we'll all be.

... what's the government going to do? Shut the pubs at 10pm? spend money on an app? .... yeah, that's going to send the virus running.

The outlawing and criminalisation of ordinary human behaviours is quite concerning and disconcerting, like how much is enough, where does this end.

On the other hand there are too many thick idiots, with it seems, no idea of how to take responsibility, act responsibly and give a shit about anything at all. That applies across all walks of life, from chav central to Westminster and beyond.

I can seriously see us not being allowed to go anywhere unless we 'log in' in the future ... as someone who doesn't feel the need to broadcast everything I'm doing and everywhere I'm going, I don't like it and I definitely don't think the government should be able to track everywhere I'm going and everything I'm doing and who I'm with. It doesn't really make a lot of difference if someone knows I've gone to this venue to watch this band or whatever... but I do find it unnerving, that anyone knows who I haven't told.

What I meant by my statement was it's not societies job to look after the vulnerable. It's the council's or whatever. Not saying they do a good job of it though.
You may look after and care about vulnerable people you know, grandparents , friends etc. but most people wouldn't give a fig about any other old folks. In the next street or town even. It's just how "society " is today.

It's might how society is today, but I don't agree with it. :) I think it is our job, look at this forum, people helping other people they don't know to quit smoking because people do care about people they don't know, we don't want them to die and we want them to get off the cigarettes. We don't send them off to a government or council run programme, we help them.

True, but you find that sort of camaraderie in small groups not so much in a general populous. Unfortunately, and this is a broad sweep, society as a whole is arrogant and selfish. Small groups are dependable and trustworthy.
Or is this just my cynical nature. :D

isn’t a general populous comprised of a load of small groups though?

i don’t see this being likely to happen. it’s what david icke and the conspiracy mob are going on about, but i can’t see anything that suggests it is likely. i go to a pub, they write my name down on a list that they destroy after i think 4 weeks. it’s hardly an orwellian tyranny.

but anyway, your bank already know all of this about you and more. where you went, what you bought, the stuff you paid for online etc. and quite possibly google as well.
