Can vaping with 0% nicotine actually be good for you?

Here's the thing, I don't smoke, never have. However, the past two winters I have really suffered with chest infections and bronchitis. I think this is in part due to the dryness of the atmosphere in my centrally-heated, air-conditioned workplaces/ home. My question is, when you vape, are you actually drawing steam into your lungs, in the same way as when you fill a bowl with hot water and breath it in? Obviously vaping won't help your sinus in the same way, but I was seriously thinking about giving vaping a go if it will keep my lungs 'moisturised' during the winter. I can't find anything in the general technical info about vaping, as it obviously concentrates on its relationship with nicotine. If anyone knows anything about this, I'd be really grateful!

You are drawing a vapourised mixture of Propylyne Glycol and Vegetable Glycerine, it is the "steam" of those two chemicals.

PG by its own accord has a drying/dehydrating side effect. The elements are also only heated to around 50 to 70 degrees farenheit, which is not warm enough 2 effectively create moisture in a humectant capacity. Basically, it won't moisturize your lungs. If you are looking for something to do that, you need to see your GP and think about getting a humidifier for your home/work space.

Thank you SO MUCH, that's really clear and helpful. Damn, I thought I was going to help my chest AND look cool!

PG has proven anti viral effects too, this has been tested and trialled since the 40's. Vaping PG can actually help reduce the effects of coughs, colds and sore throats and associated ailments.

If you make a solution with menthol crystals you can clear your sinuses with it too.

If you were a smoker, I'd tell you that you were silly NOT to take up vaping, but since you don't smoke and it won't help prevent you from getting sick each winter, taking it up to be cool isn't good enough :P

We dont vape to look cool :P we vape so we dont smoke :)

Yeah I was thinking about that too, it DOES help with those things to a certain extent. Its not the cure all of all coughs though. I have been really ill during vaping, most notably last month when everyone in my house came down with a very nasty viral infection, the OH stopped vaping for nearly a week as it only made him cough more and gag. I went about 3 days or so and I am only just getting my taste buds back!

But keep in mind, coughing AND sore throats are also side effects of PG too :P

A humidifier and a visit to the GP would be my best advice.

If you dont smoke, don't vape either :)

and to further add there are several users on here who actually suffer through vaping one of the few side effects of dry lips and mouth and vapers cough so the need to hydrate while vaping is actually quite important

My wife used to smoke casually but only if we went out and not at all for the last 4.5 years. That said she likes sitting in front of the TV at night with one of my concoctions in 0 nicotine so she can learn more about the business, the products and the effects - fair play to her.

I personally don't care if someone wants to vape, but I will stick with my if you dont smoke, dont vape considering the games the EU are trying to pull (gateway theory and all that other stuff) You and I both know its bullshit, but it would probably be best at this sensitive time, not to encourage vaping to non smokers for "medical reasons". If you catch my drift ;) Sorry but I dont want or need to see "POTV and ECIG Vendors Encouraging NON smokers to take up vaping to prevent Medical illnesses" Not the headline I would want on the Daily Fail :)

It would be great to be free of smoking AND vaping 100%......!!! If I could I would tomorrow. Today!!
