Covid19 and the great reset

it was a real question. i remember watching channel 4 news when they were interviewing some of the attendees at one of the early ones, and quite a few of them seemed like frustrated middle class women. maybe the sort of people that read conservativewoman.co.uk . so i was genuinely wondering.

i think this is a specific problem with people who hold these kind of beliefs, though. they get very drawn in to it, and when others question it become very defensive. it’s inevitable that others will question it because the beliefs are often absurd. but the problem is that this then reinforces the “hidden knowledge” mindset, that they know better than the rest of us, who are brainwashed and taken in by the “official narrative” about whatever the topic in question might be, rather than simply being rational beings with the capacity to think logically and rule out that which either is irrational or has no basis in reality.
Im not accusing akuma of that in anyway, but what you say does hold true to some of my recent real life experience with antivaxx, virus hoax types.
Its defo a thing.

on the other hand, what you said about frustrated middle aged conservative voting women doesnt track so well, it is my recent experience that the protester/anti vaxx/hoax types tend to be more either champagne socialist types or full on lets live off the land types - who think tories are satan come to destroy the world.

i’ve always found the conspiracy types, both in real life and the ones you encounter online, to profess to be “apolitical”, despite the fact of their beliefs often being aligned quite closely with far right ideas. i know quite a few lefties and none of them entertain this sort of stuff. i’m sure some exist, but i would think hippies and yoga instructors might be more attracted to it, which also feeds into my question about the middle class. :)

Middle class for sure, most working class folk are too busy working and worrying about general day to day stuff.

I don't know about the other, there were 'out with the tories' type banners and stuff. Truth be told they looked like a fairly disparate group with all sorts there for all different reasons.... which may be why it wasn't reported very well. It seemed like a very unorganized protest with no real focus other than 'freeedom!'

Most just seemed to be there to film it on their phone.... it's hard to know how many actually had something to say.

this is my problem with it. what do they mean by freedom? they just want the covid restrictions removed? do they think they are usually free? happy with rising inequality locally and globally, the numbers of homeless, housing crisis, austerity, the climate crisis, increasingly precarious and poorly paid employment, all of the other shit that plagues modern life? if so i would have to say it’s a fairly shallow and selfish protest, if that is all they have to be out on the street about.

Weirdly …. On the day they were “set free”

yeah, wandering around the capital, shouting, filming, walking down the middle of the road without being arrested, demanding freedom.

... the irony is not lost on me and it certainly won't be for people watching on in some other countries.
