A rather comprehensive report on disposables in Scotland, that also suggests policies for solving the issues with them (page 21) :22: Most of them have been discussed here, and the only one that could be considered reprehensible is the flavor ban. So good on them…

Apparently Scotland is taking advice from Australia on how they handled it, there's hope for us all.

It's not just Scotland that is taking advice from Aus...

Steve Barclay, the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care of the United Kingdom addressed the Health and Social Care Committee -

“In fact, I had a meeting with a leading Australian figure this morning on some of the lessons around the vaping industry in Australia, how we can look at what is being done there and whether there are any lessons that we can share with each other.”
Isn't that a bit like asking advice from Putin in how to run fair democratic elections, and the best policy towards neighbouring countries like Ukraine?

The fact anyone of the Uk nations is taking advice from the Australian way of ‘dealing with vaping’ fills me with dread.
The Australians have murdered vaping.

Think it is important to not exaggerate here… This report is not about vaping in general, but how to reduce or eliminate the environmental damage from disposables, and the policy suggestions, Aussie or not, are compared based on this goal ;) I found most of the measures they suggest to be rather reasonable…

Believe me, I agree that there are politicians who will be moronic enough to try and copy the Aussie catastrophe regardless of the consequences, it’s almost as certain as it is idiotic :17:

We have to hope that more sensible minds prevail, though not holding my breath :11:

where have people got the idea scotland is taking advice from australia? i don’t think that’s true at all.

The Blunder Down Under now rears it's ugly head in Scotland...

Scottish ministers are being urged to copy Australia and make e-cigarettes prescription only in a bid to tackle a new “epidemic of vaping” among young people.
Health campaigners at Ash Scotland made the plea amid growing concern over youngsters vaping.
It has now urged the Scottish Government to “strongly consider following Australia’s precautionary approach to e-cigarettes” by making products containing nicotine available with a prescription only.
Professor Emily Banks, a public health specialist at the Australian National University, and Emeritus Professor Mike Daube from the faculty of health sciences at Curtin University in Western Australia, spoke about their experiences at events organised by Ash Scotland in Edinburgh.
What words can express that overpaid fuckwits will bring their idiotic & failed dogma all the way from Aus, and attempt to unleash it on another country...

what that says is that a pressure group is talking advice from australia, and urging the scottish government to follow it.

Yes.. and I have no idea how influential Ash Scotland (or the idiots they invited from Aus) are or not.. let's just hope & pray they are not in this case...
