Diy Coil help - Damned if I can get it right

Just can't get it right.

Love the flavour of stock coils such as baby beast x4 when I diy say on OBS engine or troll RTA I can't get close.

I have tried basic kanthal, stainless steel. It's muted in comparison.

Tried Hive coil which is the best yet but the ramp up time was huge and too hot for me, on the one I tried (not made myself)

Basic claptons seem good for ramp but flavour not hitting the spot.

Where should I be heading in the sense of coil.

The baby beast X4 has a fast ramp normally at about 50-60w and is 0.17ohms from memory.

Twisted coils have worked for me in the engine. Also coils positioning makes quite a bit of difference. In the engine you want them as close to the air flow holes as possible. So you want them high up the posts (without shorting)

I have not tried twisted, will look into those I think I have some, I have positioned the coils higher in the engine like you say but will def try twisted.

literally just changed from 28 gauge SS zipper coils to a 3 fish tail braid (32 gauge) twisted with a strand of 24 gauge all SS and the flavour is insane. takes a bit of patience but well worth it.

Without using my brain & figuring out how many you're using, how many wraps are you using?

Do you do micro or spaced coils?

What's the diameter of the coils?

My go to used to be 24g Kanthal, 2.5 mm rod, 6 spaced duel wraps but now I'm using Claptons more often I generally use 26g, 3mm diameter, 6/7 duel wraps

micro, 7 wraps, 3mm

they come out to around .24 ohms

they dont produce as much vapour as the zippers i had on before but jeheez if there not the most flavourful coils i have had on there

Generally, slightly spaced if Stainless, not spaced kanthal, I normally go for 3mm I have tried 0.25 - 0.50 ohms.

Oh and tried 24-26 AWG on both

For me, spaced nichrome are best for flavour. Nice and clean
