extortionate postage takes the piss

DIY supplies are quite expensive to ship if you're buying 100ml of VG, PG, and Nicotine. I phoned Liberty Flights to ask if they supply the DIY products in there store, but they said they didn't because there isn't enough demand (so I guess I don't count, lol). They gave me my first order of DIY supplies free delivery, but after that it's quite pricey. How hard can it be to stock some supply of DIY goods in there stores?

A few years ago I worked for a company that charged only 1st class delivery but sent everything out 2nd class. They went bust coz people got so pissed with it. Now that's an extremely brazen example, but it shows how often the bottom line is as much profit here and now over anything else, and sod the consequences. It doesn't surprise me that companies squeeze that extra bit of profit out of postage charges. Do a high percentage of companies go bust in the first year because of economic forces, or should we consider that many are really never in it for the long haul anyway.

With many B&M stores being so pitifully stocked, what options do we have.

Depending on eccomerce platform you use it can be a right pain in the proverbial to set postage rules up on single items, it may be excessive on a 99p item however put a couple of other things in the basket with the o rings and its not that bad.

Plus for that new whiz bang recipe you have found, you end up having to go to three different DIY vendors and pay enough postage to cover the value of 3 bottles of flavour!

Anyone that deals with Rob will know what an A1 bloke he is and I for one don't like open slagging of a vendor, particularly one I happen to like. There are a million reasons postage is the price it is, least of all :

  • The cost of the packing materials.
  • The cost of getting to the Post Office.
  • The cost of lost items due to shit PO service or thieving bastards.
  • The cost of the post itself.

I really don't know what some customers want. It would be easy to up the price of an o ring by £3 and then offer free postage but then the moaners would complain about the price of a feckin o ring.....I've never heard anyone on here complaining about the price being too low on an order of 25 items.

As some have already said, if one believes that postage is too expensive, then vote with your feet and don't pay it. Instead, get in the car and spend your afternoon and £5 on petrol driving around trying to find one yourself.

Rob I have never had any problems with Royal Mail throughout my entire life.
Yes they can be slow and yes their new price structure is odd and sometimes a little steep.
I deal with royal mail and couriers on a daily basis and I find that regardless how much you spend none of them are perfect.

However, my problem is not with Royal Mail.

As I said earlier this type of tactic is what I expect from Joe Blogs on eBay
Now I have bought and sold bigger and heavier items on eBay and the postage has been a hell of a lot cheaper than this. ( and this does cover sundries like envelopes and packing materials)

Having over 300% mark up on postage to me is corporate greed and takes the piss.

Now I have looked online to see if I can buy these O rings from another source and so far I have not found any.

I don't know if Stealth Vape knows that they are (so far) the only company that sells this specific O ring if they do then this mark up is even more unacceptable .

I expect better postage options on such a small item.

I think the complaint raises some genuine points.

What's terrible about most internet websites is that the BUY button is automated, so you're forced to pay whether you want the goods or not and before you can agree the postage rates. We're powerless, what can we do?

There are no search facilities on the internet, you can't find similar products elsewhere, nor can you compare pricing before the website you land on automatically extracts the funds from your credit card ... or PayPal ... or whatever payment mechanism the website's e-commerce function chooses. they've got you by the gonads there.

That Tim Berners-Lee fella, he ought to be shot for inventing the fecking internet ... and let's line up Anne Robinson, Julia Bradbury and Lynn Foulds Wood too while we're at it, I'm sure they invented consumerism and suppressed our right to complain about unscrupulous internet sites. Life's about our need to masturbate, it's not about wasting valuable hand shandy time having to search for what you want and making your own decisions.

It's so, so unfair ... consumers just don't have the choice anymore. I mean, Biriecig ... 40p for o-rings, £1.95 for postage ... it's another fucking rip off I'm telling you ... I'm off in the car now using free fuel and I damn well better get free parking too when I reach town and wander around looking for the o-ring shop ... if there's any justice in the world it's right next to the car park and the porn shop as I really can't be arsed looking around.

Hey, maybe the porn shop has a cock ring that would fit your Vamo?

I don't want to buy anything else. I just want to but the Orings I would expect to pay around £1.00 postage on such a small item but not over £3.00 That is nearly a bottle of liquid

I think we're bloody lucky to have vendors that will supply such low value items.
The amount of agro to list the items, pack, process the payment and then take abuse on here for it for such a piddly profit must be barely worthwhile.
