Nice. Simple. Effective.

Sent from my iPhone using Planet of the Vapes

Was in Poundland 2 days later for some more epoxy resin and saw this tin,so tried my hand at a vv mod using a LM2596 dc-dc stepdown board and a digital volt meter.

There might just be enough more room for a built in battery charger. They're like 99p on ebay.
Great mod.

Great mod.

The batteries are in series, so i'd need a balance charger for that.
The first tin in the OP has been assigned to charging duties as i use the vv most of the time now.

Mainly ebay and using old ego connectors, not pretty but they do the job, got some better connectors on the way from FT.https://www.fasttech.com/product/1563302

I bought 10 of those, first one was great.Went together easily with removal of centre pin then solder on the 14AWG cable & rebuild. The second one though, same method (remove centre pin, solder on 14AWG) split the insulator, and then split a few more insulators so I finally lost the plot(swearing like a Navvy)and forced the silicon insulation up the 14AWG and over the soldered joint, before placing the top shoulder from a split insulator under the shoulder on the centre pin.Result was a safe 510 that doesn't short out when I change over atty.
