Hi all,

Recently bought myself an eleaf istick 30w and atlantis to go with it. The better flavour of the atlantis has left me searching for even better flavour!

So. . . Today I purchased a magma rda clone from a member on here as my first RDA. I watched a zillion tutorials on coil making and I've already ordered the cotton. Just unsure of what guage wire I should try first?

Thanks in advance,

Dan

Depends what resistance you're aiming for. For a first coil I'd recommend 1+ ohm which you can easily achieve with 26 or 28 guage.

Six wraps of .3 Kanthal around a small blue screwdriver. Bam, job done :)

Am I correct in saying the larger diameter the wire, the less resistance the coil has? And also the more wraps, the higher the resistance?

Thanks again.

Yep. Spot on :)

Also, a dual coil offers twice as much wire and therefore halves the total resistance.

Yes the thicker the wire the less resistance the current has to overcome to get from one end to the other, the longer the wire the wire the more resistance it has

More wraps means more wire so greater resistance

Like resistors in parallel? It's been a while since school :19:

Thankyou for the help though buddy. I've ordered 10m of 0.3mm/28awg kanthal and some pre made coils at 0.6ohm each (just to get me started while I'm messing around with coil building!).

28g is a great place to start. U prob cud get some 26g as well.

Cheap wire here http://www.vape-atomizer-mesh.com/

Coil wrap & res calc Coil wrapping | Steam Engine | free vaping calculators

Where it gives 2 figures for no. of wraps eg: 8/7, this means with the coil legs pointing downwards, 7 wraps when viewed from the underside, 8 wraps when viewed from the top. It took me ages to figure this out.:)

Feel free to hit me up if you fancy trying some different wire widths - I can post you an assortment in an envelope :)

Thanks buddy I might just do that :D

Spied allsorts of crazy twisted wire on eBay. . think I'll learn to build first!

Whilst I've got you chatting, how do I work out what battery I'll need to be using in a mod to fire sub ohm? My eleaf will fire down to 0.4.
