hi all,

I think I know this wasn't due to me vaping, but just want your opinions

I started to feel a soar throat and it was hard to gulp while I was vaping, thought nothing of it, so I think this was in the early stages of me getting tonsillitis

im recovered now fully after some anti biotics and rest, but boy it was proper nasty, at first I thought I had corona

now I'm just scared going back to vaping, as I may get it again and tbh there's no way I want to go through that again, it was hell

my tank and drip tip were clean as I always check as I would never vape if it looks mank

thanks,
rob

I wouldn't worry about how clean your stuff is tbh, I mean you're literally inhaling nicotine and other chemicals, it's only that which could irritate your throat.

As far as tonsilitis goes though, you're right, it's unconnected. Caused by a virus, or more rarely strep bacteria, definitely not down to vaping.

So honestly I wouldn't worry :)

thanks ninjazx6 :)

ive been vaping nearly 3 years and i have never been ill from it

i know nicotine irritates the throat, have you experienced this before?

i get this quite often due to not having an imune system thanks to meds. last year was the worst ever. tonsilitus for 10 days before i ended up in hospital with the worst case they had ever seen. 4 drips of antibiotics for 24 hours and then glandular fever also diagnosed. still sent me home the next day.
and no, vaping was nothing to do with it. i was so ill though and couldnt swallow and was so weak i couldnt even get out of bed let alone pick up my vape. 2 weeks later it started to clear and the first thing i went for wasnt solid foods but my vape.

Felt a bit crap the later 6 months of vaping(was already suffering chest/breathing issues before i quit anyway - that's why i stopped), but knocked it upto transitional bodily reactions of depriving it of long time smoking habits, and kept on vaping (but tempering my use, because i was on high nic and hitting it alot). Issue cleared up over the next month or two, although it seemed like it might be vaping related i don't think so at this point, i'm 4 years along now and haven't been properly ill for years (it's tough to tell if i get a cold, a mildly stuffy nose and odd tickly cough is the worst of it these days.. touch wood). I think i could probably do without all together (if i really pushed myself to), but there's still that psychological side of sticking something in your gob and i'd rather (me personally) keep sticking the vape in there than be thinking about a ciggy (i still miss it weirdly, and not all the same, it's disgusting).

I can sympathize with your doubt and worries about vaping though, there was a rough patch where i thought it was doing me over and almost gave up with it, just glad i pushed through and kept going. Just don't find a reason to smoke even if you do choose not to vape, it's worth pushing on.
