Help with coil building

Hi All sorry for the stupid question as I am new at this... I have the wire Kanthal KA1 28GA+32GA clapton wire, but I dont know how to use the Steam coil website for that wire. I have the drop and dead rabbit and want dual coil with good vape and good taste. I dont understand the high end Ohm to the low end, ie 0.15 and 0.5 I also use these on squonk mods. any help would be appreciated.

The outer wire makes very little difference to resistance so you will get close enough results on steam engine with inputting the inner wire only.

dual coil setups the resistance is halved. Say if you have 2 identical coils at 1ohm each the resistance will be 0.5ohms

Thank you, what wire is the inner wire as I dont know. Would lower the Ohm be better or higher the Ohm.

28G is the inner wire (core wire); the 32G is the outer wrap.

Just input the 28AWG into the calculator and that will give you a very good approximation of the amount of wraps required for ur specified resistance. It will be very slightly out due to the wrap wire as @Frogprince mentioned but not enough to throw your calculation out

If you arent sure what ohms you would like, best bet is to start with what you are used to. Have a look at your coil you have been vaping on and aim for the resistance

Thank you for that, I would like around .19 ohm thats what I have had before and I liked it very much but cant seem to get that anymore and dont know what to do to get that.

How do you mean you cant get that anymore? If you aim for .2 in steam engine you will end up with something close to that

Hi Jaffacakes In Steam I set it to 28 Kanthal A1 dual coil target .2, 3mm ID and it then says 2 wraps. Surley thats not right when most coils are 4 or 5 wraps.

you would need different wire for 0.2 28awg is more suited to higher ohm or mtl builds.

with 3mm ID 4 wraps would be 0.5ohms.
2.5mm ID 4 wraps would be 0.4ohms
