Help with first MTL RTA

The coil won't be heating up properly and evenly. You need to remove the tank section and take out the cotton. You can then fire it on your mod if it's a regulated device. The coil should glow from the middle of the coil to the outside and it should glow evenly. If not you need to rake the coil, preferably with ceramic tweezers. If you are unsure about this look at some youtube building videos.

I tried to recoil it again this afternoon and the new one reads the same 0.4 I burnt it abit before wicking and saw it’s burning evenly middle to the outside so don’t really understand, do you think it’s possible that the coils I’ve received are on the wrong package, I’ve also brought today a tool kit which has a ohm reading in but need to wait for delivery it’s very confusing, I took a picture so you guys could see if I’m doing it right

That is odd then. I guess the coils aren't what they claim.
Your build looks to be ok from what i can see.

The only other thing I can think of is whether the coil legs are properly trapped under the deck screws. Do the Ohms fluctuate at all?

No stays at 0.4 I have the coil that came in the pack so will try that out later see if I get a different reading with that, this rta is very confusing

Sooooo I fixed it well chuffed with myself !!! The wire bits were clashing against the metal like cone bit that goes on top on the build deck ( don’t know what that bit is called ) now for my next question, you guys must be getting sick of me now, I’m your opinion which type of wire is best for flavour, and does the cotton make any difference to that if so what’s the best

thanks again people

Glad you got it sorted. Ask as many questions as you like. The bit that goes on the build deck is called the Chamber btw.
Personally I am quite happy with a simple kanthal or Ni80 wire. It really comes down to personal preference. Often I build to about 1 ohm or there abouts.
Muji cotton works well. Again it's down to personal pref, but you don't need to buy the most expensive i my experience.
Would suggest you gets some reels of wire and get in to building your own coils.

I agree with rew, the hardest part is fitting the coils and there's plenty of help here in what wire to choose and how to coil. :)

What Rew said basically.

The only difference i can tell with Muji vs Cotton Bacon (pricey, but does not warrant the price imho) personally is that the bacon wicks a little more consistently / easier, but it does have this initial funny taste to it for me (that soon goes), others claim the same with Muji (ymmw), but the biggest difference is the HUGE amount you'll get buying a bag of Muji (years worth) and the ease of cutting a strip (it's easier to gage how much you need from a strip, vs a wad). Given how often you might need to rewick a given build, Muji wins hands down for me on cost efficiency and performance. For wire simple Kanthal round wire again has great cost efficiency, i source mine at less than £2(woot, china) a spool with each one being good for 40-90 coils (30ft on thinner wires, half that for the larger gauge). The ohms of the build are only going to matter as far as how you like your vape, so grab a few different spools of wire, try the build a bit different each time and find where you like it.
