Hi, I've bought 50 pre made 1.8 ohm res-no res wire and 2mm voodoowool to start making my own coils for my mini PT2's. I think I'm right in saying that it doesn't matter how many coils I wrap as the res wire is a pre-determined length to give 1.8?
Do I start the first wrap at point where the wires are joined? Does it matter if the coils are touching?
Cheers

That's right start at the point where the wire is joined. i.e the middle bit, the coils shouldn't touch with these wires. In theory, you should just wrap until you've used all of the portion and it should be be the pre- determined resistance, but always check! I often find they are out quite a bit..

That's great thanks. Am I right in thinking a micro coil is simply where the coils a pushed tightly together so they're touching? What are the advantages of a micro coil?

Micro coils are very sturdy when used with cotton as a wick, I've got a microcoil in My Kayfun now thats been used almost all day everyday for the best part of 2 months, no signs of any problems, just remove the old wick, dry burn and rewick - sorted...

Yes that's right the coils are touching, and you can still vary the resistance by the number of wraps you do. The point of a micro coil is wick coverage which can give you great flavour, and the coil lasts for ages, so that you can slip one wick out and replace with another very easily. :D

Tubbyengineer I hear micro coils are better flavour is that correct? :)

Not neccesarily, a crap coil & wick is always a crap coil & wick. But I do prefer cotton as a wick and I think it gives better flavour. Once you've done a couple of microcoils they are simple to do. I made a perfectly good one standing up in the Pub at the swan & rushes vapemeet and proceeded to fog the place up with Kingslayer for most of the night...

I only use cotton I want to give a micro coil a try

I don't know about the wires the OP has bought but in my experience the premade non res/res wires are very thin, especially the res parts. This makes microcoiling rather difficult and results in flimsier microcoils. I tend to use 0.30mm for microcoils.

Great help, thank you very much
