What's new

Hi all, newbie advice please :D

Nah. It's been a gradual thign for me and whilst I am off completely now at home and socially, I still have fags at work tea breaks. I have yet to formulate the right mix of juice strength and cheapish kit. Almost there though.

I started vaping a couple of days after Xmas 2011 and purpously started smoking less. I ran out of cigs on the night of Jan 4th and just didn't buy any more. From the 5th on, it's been vape only.

I vape "pretty much" like I smoked. I still (mostly) take deep lung hits. I have changed the frequency of vape vs smoke. There were plenty of times I was 'done' with a cig, but still had cig left - so I smoked it anyway - didn't want to be wasteful. :D Now that I'm vaping, I can take a few toots and put my PV down. There are times I chain vape, just like I'd chain smoke. Depends on situational circumstances. :)

p.s. If you like a minty flavor, you might look around for some Dekang 'Strong Mint" eliquid. It's definitely not a menthol... at most, it's a mint-thol.

...
thanks for the PG/VG breakdown- that will make it much easier in selecting some liquids to try. I think that the reason I don't like traditional cigarettes anymore is the tobacco throat hit you get- like I said my current menthol tobacco and menthol tip provides a really minty smoke with vey little hit.

Just out of interest, when you all transitioned to vaping did you do it like you were quitting? ie choose a day that you were going to just vape and stick to that or do it more slowly; like slowly reduce the number of cigarettes you smoke and replace it with vaping? Do you vape like you smoke? Like sit down and have 10 or so vapes as if you were having a cigarette then 10 more vapes a time later or do ou just have a few vapes as and when you want to?

Thanks again for everynes help- I <3 forums lol

Thanks for the responses. The only thing that worries me is that I will vape more than I smoke. I have children so both my husband and I smoke outside. I can't imagine that I'm going to have enough willpower to force myself to go outside when I know the vapour won't hurt the kids (though maybe I will as I don't want the kids to see me do it really).

I'll give that e-liquid a try; thank you

I've noticed quite a few local-ish about this place! lol I used to live in Stoke and a rat forum I was on was full of Stokies (totally coincidentally)... must be some sort of forum ESP! lol

Well, I was planning on quit smoking but I wasn't hoping for much as I've tried gums and patches and never gave the satisfaction of a proper smoke while delivering nicotine. I bought mine in a chemist (the ones cig-like), last year on 9th of January had my last roll and on 10th started using my e-cig only (my first year anniversary yay! :)), happy to say I'm smoke free since then never had a slip up or craving for a roll or cigarettes or even dream about it.

Starting with higher dosage since you are coming off smoking will help with vaping a lot but when you are smoke free and get through the first week and body finally gets to working off clearing the toxins, you will find that you will get craving less and less. Since it's just a vapour, it dissipates quickly with no smell, so you can sneak a vape here and there with out your children seen it.

I bought my Tornado Tank from a Totally Wicked store and was told by the chap in there that the atomiser would last around three months but, with regular cleaning, you could get up to six months out of one. I've had mine a month and it still works really well (although I have another one on order, just in case!). Here are the instructions I follow daily, as recommended by Totally Wicked: http://www.totallywicked-eliquid.com/forum/ask-the-tw-team/how-to-clean-atomizer/

I hope this helps!
