What voltage are you using? I find that the iTaste usually tells me to use voltage of 3.3-3.9 with my eVod. I have it set at 3.8 and it works fine. You may have it set too high for the ohm rating of the coil.
You'll find the clearo will get hotter the more puffs you take and vapour will reduce a bit. If you turn it up you'll risk popping the coil.
Hold down the 2 buttons together. It'll tell you the range you can use. I usually go one down from the max.
I only have the vv too. Got a couple.
When you press both buttons together you should get 2 numbers flash up. Mine usually displays 3.3 and then a second after 3.9. So I then set the voltage to 3.8 by holding down one button until it displays the voltage it's set at already. Then quickly press plus or minus to set the desired voltage.

I always thought the 2nd number it displays when you hit both buttons together was the battery voltage meter telling me how much power i had left. @Leigh - Have you tried replacing the iclear head or giving it a clean?
