Horizon: Dr Michael Mosley

One thing for sure is that he won't die during the experiment, nor will he be left with any life threatening ailment. He will also not finish the experiment and retain a bunch of harmful chemicals in his body cells.
If there was any chance of any of that, then the experiment would not even take place and the programme not made.. Dr Mosley is not going to risk permanent damage to his health for the sake of show business.
So, even if the whole thing tries to put a negative spin on vaping, the fact that the programme was made in the first place will, by default, demonstrate that vaping isn't "dangerous".
Another dead cert is that he won't do a "20 fags a day" follow up comparison experiment, because he knows how dangerous fags are.

thing is he will get the odd side effects we all did when we started vaping, like dehydration if he doesn't consume more liquids, so i am under the impression that it will be not all good he needs to vape for a couple of months and get through the side effects before he can judge vaping properly

At last a sensible expose of vaping.

Couple of interesting comments, chief of which was vaping has the potential to almost eradicate tobacco smoking.

And there lies the rub. The Government are actually shit scared of that because of the loss of revenue. I've said it before, I'll say it again, one day, sooner or later we will see a specific tax on regulated and portioned nicotine Ejuices

Next we have concerns about making the addictive drug of nicotine more widely available. Drivel. The video itself draws the correct comparison with caffeine and points out most of us are addicted to that yet no one makes an issue out of it. I'd go further and say we are ALL addicted to one extent or another to sugar. Again, no one makes much fuss about that other than rightly in respect of children's diets.

Lastly, we have anecdotal mention of children as young as 11 trying vaping. Yes, I'm sure. Youngsters also try fags. In my day, at that age when curiosity took hold fags were the only option. I found that a remarkably stupid and valueless comment.

Not sure how many of you have heard of this guy. he has done a number of TV programmes on health matters, alcohol, weight loss etc

In October he did a short piece here:

Well I heard from someone on Twitter that he has announced he will be doing a Horizon programme soon. I 'followed' him on Twitter to see what I could find out

Looks like he is actually going to start vaping as part of his own experiment. Can't help but feel, despite his scientific approach to what he does, that as a lifelong NON smoker (and massively anti-smoking) he will find negatives in the experience. Could be interesting though

Any idea when it might air?

I think people are prejudging the outcome ... and fairly negatively. Let's see the programme before rushing to conclusions.

I'm going to agree with Scrumpox on this one, having seen his previous piece the mere fact that he is willing to start vaping as part of an experiment means he must at least trust that it's not going to be too dangerous - I mean he wouldn't start smoking as an experiment would he?

Good point @Tubbyengineer though there are doubts being raised over the meaning of his tweet and he is yet to respond to the posts on Twitter. The feeling being that he didn't mean HE was going to start vaping, merely that the preparation for the documentary would start Monday.

Lots of vapers have offered their support and advice, tips and tricks including Dave Dorn. Some are worried about where he will get his eliquid from, what nic strength, whether he will use cigalikes or a decent kit etc etc.The NNA has offered their assistance. Calls for him to invite folks like Clive Bates/Dr Farsolinas. Some suggesting that as a lifelong smoker the whole thing is pointless ie nothing to compare with. Some negativity there :)

He hasn't responded as yet

I think it's in our nature to pre judge a little and especially where vapers and vaping has been so misrepresented in the past 6 years and partly the point of a discussion thread like this. Of course we won't know until it's done and I'm prepared to wait and see as we must.

I'd just like to clarify that I'm a fan of Horizon and Michael Mosley and expect it to be a bloody good show.
