Kanger subtank mini consistent burnt taste...how I finally fixed the problem...

Okay, so I have seen a few threads posted about ppl experiencing a consistent burnt tastre from their subtank, no matter what juice they tried in it, what coil they switched out, etc etc.....and I didn't understand because my subtank mini was just beautiful tasting......until yesterday. When I started getting the same damn thing.....I tried everything I could think of, at first I thought it was my newly mixed juice, so down the drain went 4 and 1/2 ml of that! But no matter what I did, I couldn't get rid of the burnt taste! Then, as I was sleeping, it came to me in a dream.......the fucking screw connecting my mini rba to the air vent - I had never cleaned it!!!!

So, in short, strip down your mini rba and give it a good washing, and don't forget about the hollow screw because the burnt taste is no doubt coming from a month's supply of gunk built up inside it. That's all - and I hope I have saved some Kanger subtanks from the bin today :)

Great tip, I'm sure that'll help alot of people.. me included

it's funny, I remember reading a thread a few weeks ago about somebody having an awful burnt taste from their sub tank, no matter what they did, and I remember thinking "That's too bad, my sub tank is AWESOME!!" lol, it doesn't take much to completely ruin the entire vaping experience....and similarly, it really doesn't take much to improve it either, as long as you know what the problem is and how to fix it :)

Sorry to allow an old gripe to resurface again.

Been using the subtank mini for 6-7 weeks now and had no problems with the. 5 and.1.2 occ's.

The rda base though is doing my noodle in. It has the newest beige PEEK insulation and for 3-4 weeks I just got an 'off' taste with my juices, something I didn't get with the occ's. I then cleaned the whole unit down, even took the rda apart to make sure, re wicked and coiled. BOOM! it tasted fine. No added extra 'off' taste.

In fact I was enjoying it more than with the occ's and my proper RDA's! Last week I re wicked and still fine. Then yesterday re wicked again. Same method etc.

BOOM! The off taste was back to my dismay! I've cleaned thoroughly again but it's still there.

I'm really hacked off with this. Never had problems with any of my drippers but this is becoming a joke.

In short... Anyone else having off or odd flavour issues with subtank mini rda even with the proper beige PEEK insulators? I just need to find out if there is a definitive solution!

Thanks for bearing with me!

I read in a post in the rebuildable's section of the forum I think post called subtank mini consistent burnt taste.
The op fixed this by stripping down his rba base and giving the centre airflow pin a good thorough clean, hope this helps

The posted quoted above was mine from last week. Seems that stripping the RBA base to its smallest components and washing them all with soapy water thoroughly does seem to sort out flavour issues. Since my last post I re-washed again ( thoroughly!!! ) and made sure i 'blew' through the base pin and dried it. Also not overwicking ( just touching base ) helps too.

Since then been running perfectly.

Personal thing maybe but seem to get much better flavour from fruit/sweet flavours ( clean and unmuted ) vs custard/bakery ( lose their subtlety and dimensions vs RDA's ) from the Subtank RBA deck

Also been running my high VG (80%) in it with no real dry-hit or wicking issues, much to my surprise.

Now a very pleased man :)
