kayfun 3.1 clone short?

Show us pics of how you've got it wicked, kayfuns can be a bit fussy with their tiny juice channels.

cheers for your help mate but im 99% sure its not a wicking problem. like i say the first few builds were fine. good vapour and flavour. i THINK i may have sussed out the problem. i used a pair of long nose pliers to get the positive post screw out and i think i might have caused a tiny bit of a scuff causing the short? i had this problem with the fogger in that after a while it just started flashing when on the ohms meter for no reason whatsoever (without a coil installed). i gave it a file down here and there and it seems to have cured the fogger but for the kayfun i have added another insulator at the base of the 510 screw. up to now it seems fine but im still not 100% happy with it, i appreciate this is all very difficult to explain and diagnose without actually seeing the bloody thing but all the advice im getting is certainly helping bit by bit. cheers pete

Pete, have a look on my blog in the Kayfun section for the best way to align the coil to make wicking easy. You don't need to do a fancy coil like that, a single microcoil is fine. Link is in my signature.

No worries mate I'll have a look. I forgot to mention the other reason I think its a short and not a wicking problem is the coil (6 wraps .32 g kanthal) lights up instantly and burns REALLYHard. None of my other coils did this before. Its a pain in the ass. It is usable to a point but I'm not sure if its 100% safe to do so.

This might be a long shot but check the positive terminal block hasn't moved, mine was shorting because it had moved by a tiny amount and was just touching the negative, It would fire on my Vamo but the resistance kept jumping about, and in the end it fried the insulator. Took it apart and filed it to widen the gap, seems ok now. I've noticed that different clones have bigger or smaller gaps.

Perfect. You just saved me a load off faffing around. Wish I'd read this before I tore out and binned the coil/cotton with 1/2 a days use, it was surprisingly tasty despite reading 2.4Ω Ho hum, we live and learn. Appreciate your post
