Kayfun for MVP v2 coiling

I am currently vaping a 1.3Ohm single micro-coil in a Kayfun from M-Vapes on an MVP 2 - I know what you've got coming! I use 0.28 Kanthal wrapped around a 2mm pin - about 5/6 wraps if I remember rightly.

I will say that I have to max out the power at 11W, but I'm quite sure that any higher and I'd start getting dry hits. In fact I'm certain, as I've had it on a kicked mech and an SVD up to 15W. Hopefully I'll confirm it again soon - It's my birthday on Saturday and I've put in a request for a DNA30 :D Anyone fancying giving me an IPV2 to go with it?

@zubair Yep, I researched for ages before settling with these guys and this clone. I received mine the very next day which was excellent service. The clone was also very clean looking. I emailed them to ask if they clean them before sending out. They told me they give them a good wipe but it is best to soak in warm water. I just soaked the whole thing, including polycarbonate tank, in fairy liquid, rinsed well and then left to dry out. I've had no taste of residue machine oil.

The only slight problems was I had to scrape away a little bit of metal that seemed like excess as it was coming away from the surface. But that was a tiny issue.

The other thing was the insulator underneath the positive post was not aligned with the positive post. I removed the air duct screw which loosened the positive post and then I could align the insulator. Course you may not have these problems, but they were easily fixable. It's just worth checking out the manual online and giving your product a good check to make sure everything looks alright. I think you've made the right choice. I hope yours arrives ok.

Hows the Kayfun doing mine has arrived today just itching to get home and start building...will let you know how i get on.

@zubair Sorry mate didn't get notified of your reply. Yeah my kayfun is doin ok thanks, though I'm still experimenting with the coils. I wasn't getting as much vapour and taste as I expected from the kayfun. I was using a 2ohm coil, so I decided to make a 1.2ohm coil. I made that fine, but still the flavour and taste isn't at the heights of what I expected from the kayfun. Rather than blame the product (which seems fine) I know this is something I am doing wrong (not sure what yet though, lol).

My point is, it's hard to do but tame the excitement, or at least learn to channel it properly, otherwise if you don't get the results you expect straight away you'll just get frustrated. My kayfun is vapable, it's just not amazing yet. I actually came here to ask a question about organic wool, as I'm using voodoowool at the moment and I'm wondering if that could be the issue, so I'd like to try organic wool instead. Again, not pre-judging the product (voodoowool in this case) just trying to get to see where I'm going wrong. That can be a difficult thing when you think you're doing everything fine. My coil glows nicely and evenly, the ohms consistently states 1.2, the wick doesn't seem to be blocking the juice channels, I have a decent eliquid, yet I'm getting pretty much the same flavour and vapour that I'd get from a stock 2ohm T3S coil. Just gotta stick at it. Let me know how you get on if you're using organic wool with your coil and how you've set up the coil up.

Cheers.

Try changing your juice use one with higher VG!

Well i have had a pretty good and awful experience so far

A) building kayfun 1.3 ohms and cotton first build took agaes but after that rebuilt gud few times n fantastic.
Lots of lovely flavour with cotton build really easy once u judge cotton required.

B) the bad - not building but vaping im getting too much nic dropped from 12 to 6 im still getting buzzed big time! Not over vaping taking easy n having more or less same as i wud normally. Took 3 hours for the effects to wear off while i was at work.
Felt really really shit. Cut my juice by addding VG from boots at 50:50 to half the 6mg and thats sort of done but now i dont have any fecking flavour.
So frustrating!!!
Ordered some 0mg stuff if that dont work going back to old i30s.

But Kayfun was actually really good my juice tasted delish!

zubair I only use high VG juice, although sometimes 50/50 if it's only available. I can't stand PG juices, they were made in hell by the devil himself as far as I'm concerned. Disgusting irritating crap, lord knows how people vape the stuff. Must be all the numbing agents in the fags people still have in their systems makes it somehow bearable to vape. Anyway sorry I'm a bit sensitive when it comes to PG, in more ways than one, lol. Back to topic...

Funny my first coil was relatively quite quick to make, but the second and third took ages because the wire wouldn't seem to stay under the post screws, no matter what. I eventually was able to screw down the screw and the wire didn't move. One min later it came out again. Nearly drove me mad, lol. Got there in the end but I just finding that part so difficult at the mo. Any tips anyone? Maybe that has something to do with the lowish quality of my vape.

From what you've said I'm more convinced about using cotton for the amount of flavour. Yeah as for the nic, I've got loads of 18mg juices that i can't use. I also have boots VG, but as you say you lose the flavour unless you got flavour concentrate for your juices. My local B&M has started doing capella concentrates, so I bought one and am able to cut the nic down whilst getting the flavour I want also. Anyway at least the nic keeps you off the analogues. I was vaping 18mg and smoking rollies at the same time for a few weeks. I knew I was having too much nic, but I was trying to sort my vaping out, not feeling satisfied, so smoking as well. On 12MG with the kayfun only now, no desire for rollies at all (love vaping for that!), and I feel way more relaxed. 12mg feels like a relief to me, lol.

It does seem frustrating mate. I've had to empty the kayfun out about 5 times to adjust the wick or build a new wick. The way I see it though, once you're set up, the kayfun holds loads of juice and your coil should last a good while, so there'll be less to do in time. Besides that, it is interesting to learn a new skill, coiling. Yeah they'll bring out the latest and greatest new bit of vape gear, but to be honest I plan to stay on the kayfun for a good while now, as long as I get decent flavour and vapour, the rest is just take or leave it. I've never been a slave to fashion.

Keep at it mate. We gotta keep each other going. One day we'll be the big chimps helping out the newbies, hehe.

You will both get there, it just takes a bit of fiddling, and farting around. I have the Kayfun down to a fine art now lol, but I still can make dodgy coils. WRT to voodoowool, you need to torch the shit out of it, glowing white hot, and make sure that you dont squash it when you coil around it, use a paperclip or something up the inside. It does take 20-30 puffs to "break in" as well.

blademansw Yeah I remember you saying in the thread I started about the kayfun, you said torch the voodoowool, but I decided not to follow that advice because it just seemed weird to burn it. I will listen now and follow your advice on this. I will put over a gas stove for a little while until it glows white hot. lol, the things this RBA stuff entails. I really need a workshop. Yeah the first coil I made I did strangle the voodoowool a bit. Now I use a 1 or 2mm screw underneath and this gives it just enough room so it's not strangled, but also it is not too roomey. Maybe it is too roomey so it's not heating up enough. I guess I will have to trial and experiment. I will do the work to get this right.

Using a 1mm screw also helps because when I'm seating the coil I leave the screw in and it helps as a guide to raise the coil above the airhole. Guess I am learning some stuff after all.

Cheers.

@lemon lmao yeah had sane problem with fixing it too the post as well dude! Just wrap it around so its hooked! Thrn wiggle.

Not looked into other builds but cottons easy. Just unwrap ball cut small strip roll like a wall thread. Quite simples really.

But saying that laying of the kayfun for a while had at most 15 puffs n dat nearly killed me. So back to the nautilus.

If it nearly killed you.. Sounds like you need to use lower nic or higher vg juice :-)
