Kayfun for MVP v2 coiling

Here is a project for you...

Triple twisted 0.2mm, 2mm microcoil with organic cotton. Vapes a treat at 11 watts but on the video it's at 20 watts, hence the primer puffs.

(Apologies for foisting my ugly mooey on ya all)

That's a nice build! I'll have to have a go at that.
Although mine vapes like a champ whatever I throw in there, it would be nice to try a coil with more surface area. My standard microcoil is physically quite small.

@zubair I remember before I got my kayfun that I had ordered some of these, (GET THE M1.6 x 3mm ones):
M1.6 M2 M2.5 M3 A2 STAINLESS STEEL ALLEN BOLT SOCKET CAP SCREWS HEX HEAD DIN 912 | eBay

For some reason I forgot that I'd bought them, but after struggling with the clone screws, I put these in and they work perfectly. No more struggling to keep the wire under the screw.

@blademansw Yeah very nice amount of vapour there. I've made myself a few nano-coils trying to get better and better. First at 2ohms (went for 1.5, must have wrapped too much by mistake, or I think the tails were too long), but wasn't getting the vapour I wanted so made one at 1.2 ohms. The difference in vapour wasn't huge, but at least my battery lasted longer. I was using some cotton pads, so I suspected they might be not good enough.

Some cotton balls I had ordered arrived today. I made a new coil, this time 1.1ohm. I've done a lot of research online and tinkered with the setup a lot. I spent about an hour before messing with the height of the coil above the airhole and retrying to get the best vapour and flavour. My coil looks almost identical to the one in your pics. I'm really happy with myself how I've picked this coil making up so quick. However I'm not entirely happy with the vapour and flavour production. I've read that the kayfun wasn't made to produce massive clouds, but I kinda expected more, especially at 1.1ohms at 11 watts.

I've checked for hotspots, taken great care to get size of cotton just right, placement as perfect as I can, etc etc. My setup is as follows:

28 kanthal 5 wrap around a 3mm M3 screw, producing 1.1ohms, with cotton wick.

I was thinking maybe I need more wraps (surface area), so perhaps a higher resistance wire? Honestly been wracking my brains thinking of every possible reason why it's not quite there. The only seeming difference between my setup and yours is your microcoil is 2mm, mine is 3mm. Do you think that's were I'm going wrong? Too few wraps? Anyone?

Should I get .2 wire @blademansw What do you mean by triple twisted?

Thanks for reading all that. Soz to go on, just had to explain where I'm at.

Thanks!

lemon.

Good shout on the socket cap screws, I shall get some of them myself.

Triple twisted means I have twisted 3 lengths of 0.2 mm Kanthal together in a drill. It's the same build as this one :

Have a watch of that, he explains about surface area of the coil if I remember correctly.

@blademansw Interesting. Watching the vid I was thinking wouldn't it just be easier to get a thicker wire, but the guy in the vid talks about that at the end. I don't really have the equipment to make it the way he does. Somebody needs to start selling this stuff in bulk. What ohms is the coil on your vid?

1.2 ohms. The idea behind the twisting of the wire is that there is a greater surface area of wire available to vapourise the juice for a similar (ish) resistance to something around 3 wire gauges thicker (roughly).

You can do it by hand with a pin vice, but any battery drill will do very nicely.

I tried it with a dremel for a quad twisted build and that works brilliantly, very controllable

I thinks im going to keep it simples for the time being i have got lovely flavour and nice vapour production.

Project does sounds really interesting will give it a go next month spent soooo much this month!

Ok so im gunna buy the Kayfun Lite after all the advise.

As the MVP is underpowered somewhat i need to build single coils at 1.3 - 1.6 ohms and need wire that heats quick. So what wire do i get?

Thanks
try 28awg/.32ml on a 2-3ml drill bit be about 6-8 wraps on the coil will get u close

I use 0.28mm kanthal, 8 turns round a 2mm drill bit gives me 1.5ohms according to my MVP.
