Something may not be right, I have a 3mm coil in mine without issue, the positive post will move around if you remove the square base plate so would check there first, I have some movement with juice flow open but not enough to worry about.

Thats what happened to mine I kept getting shorts until I realised that the positive pin was not sat square on the insulator plate and was toughing the sides, as soon as I straightened it was fine.

If you screw the airflow screw out too far then the 510 screw will not tighten the square base plate correctly and your ohms will be all over the place/ shorts etc.

Under the square base plate is a little nut, this needs to be tight to keep the positive terminal in place.
